Life with Maya

Wednesday, 30 December 2009. After a long blogging hiatus I have moved this blog to a new, more private location. The new address for the blog is mylittledramaqueen.wordpress.com. See you there! Sunday, 6 September 2009. First day of school. Maya went off to her first day of preschool today after our long trip back to Cairo from the U.S., and she was a bit jet lagged but she made it. Mike took her to school (because Maya failed to wake me from my jet lagged stupor). Maya was a little young for the lesson...

Life with Maya: Latch

http://lifewithmayameron.blogspot.com/2009/07/latch.html

Wednesday, 29 July 2009. We spent the past three years buckling Maya into her carseat using the seatbelt attachment because we believed Toyota had not installed Latch above the seat, which we were annoyed about. But then the other day Mike "discovered" that Latch actually is in our car if you pry up a cover that is hiding it out of site. So now, three years after we bought our car from a shady dealer in Cairo, Maya's car seat is attached with Latch. Woops! 29 July 2009 at 11:05. View my complete profile.

Life with Maya: February 2009

http://lifewithmayameron.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html

Friday, 20 February 2009. Poor Maya is sick today, as in she has a fever that is ranging from 100-102. Not fun. I can't even remember thelast time she had a fever like this. Maybe never. The girl is perpetually healthy with the exception of being prone to skin ailments. In the evening, we woke her up (still hot and miserable) and gave her motrin. We tried and failed to persuade her to take a bath, compromised with a wet washcloth on her head and put her to bed. About half an hour later though she...So I ...

Sunday, 6 September 2009. First day of school. Maya went off to her first day of preschool today after our long trip back to Cairo from the U.S., and she was a bit jet lagged but she made it. Mike took her to school (because Maya failed to wake me from my jet lagged stupor). Maya is going to go to school five days a week this year, from 8 am to 1 pm, and according to her school director she will have to be a little more serious about school this year because she is now one of the big kids. But this year ...

Life with Maya: October 2008

http://lifewithmayameron.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html

Friday, 31 October 2008. I've been in a bad mood about Egypt recently. I have had little tolerance for the annoying little things that happen that are a part of living in another culture. I know this is a form of culture shock that ebbs and flows. But right now I am in the middle of it. By the front desk staff while gawking and pointing at Maya. Then later a gardener shouted: "Where'd they get that black girl from? And at dinner a member of the waitstaff said: "It's not natural" while pointing at Maya.

Life with Maya: December 2008

http://lifewithmayameron.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 31 December 2008. Just thought people would be interested in the bizarre collection of things I love when I am in the US and miss when I'm at home in Egypt:. 1) Flavored soft drinks. Like Diet Vanilla Coke, or Diet Cherry Dr.Pepper. 2) TV TV TV- I get to watch House and CSI whenever I want to. And I have more than just a single channel showing US drama shows, mostly reruns. 4) Mexican food and drinkable tap water (though we do sometimes drink tap water in Egypt). 5) Fluffy Egyptian cotton towe...

We Four in Egypt. Now back in the US! Originally uploaded by Jason L. Parks. I started this blog almost three years ago, when the Four Family was newly four, and as we were setting out to live for two years in Cairo, Egypt. It was an amazing two years. We Four in Egypt. Now back in the US! Repatriation, part I. We made it to Dream Town. The trip was relatively incident-free, but we were all pretty miserable by the end. We’re now crashed out in a comfy airport hotel, watching TV at 3am because we’re still on Cairo time (and by “we,” I mean my children; Mr. Four and I easily could have slept through the night). In a few hours we’re meeting a landlord at a potential rental. It’s a newish duplex/townhouse with a small yard in a racially int...A Honda or To...

We Four in Egypt. Now back in the US! The bags are packed (mostly), the house is empty (mostly), the boys are sleeping (soundly), and Mr. Four and I have a quiet few hours before we leave the house for our midnight flight back to the US. We’ve had a busy few days, filled with lots of goodbyes. We met some wonderful people here in Cairo, and it’s hard to leave these friends. We Four in Egypt. Now back in the US! As I type, there are two Egyptian men in my living room building boxes and packing most of our stuff into them. Mr. Four and I are drinking beers, Bug has already fallen asleep for the evening, Giggle is watching. And Mr. Puppy is observing it all anxiously. Posted by Ms. Four. Moving is a stressful, glad to see yours seemed to go rather smooth. Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time. On Why are we here? Duda on Adoption in Egypt. On At the stroke of midnight.

We Four in Egypt. Now back in the US! Many adoptive and potential adoptive parents find my blog as they’re looking for information about adopting from either Ethiopia or Egypt. Monday, April 18, 2011. New Home in the Mountains. November 2010 was move in month. We built a new home in the picturesque mountains of Utah. WE'RE BACK. I think ;). Has it really almost been a year since I blogged? I took a break from blogging- partially due to the fact that my Macbook crashed and partially because I needed. A break. After LOTS of self-reflecting {and getting my Mac fixed ;)} I have decided to blog again. I'm not promising to blog everyday OR even every week, but will TRY. So what has changed in a year? Oh goodness. where to start? Baylor moved up to the Two's Class. Baylor is "interested' in the potty. Darla "ran away" :(.
