Recently I’ve noticed, that on hard drives, which have ‘strange’ size (840 Gb i.e.) there is a problem with installing GRUB. It fails, with error ‘Bad file or directory type’. How to fix it? Command to easily install GRUB on a partition or disk. Unfortunately it doesn’t print any errors, if they occur. More useful is GRUB shell, which shows exactly what are you doing. Just type. In terminal and here you go.
