Musings of an anonymous geek. October 31, 2007. Getting at your Google Spreadsheets columns. 8212; m0j0 @ 8:29 am. For now, though, in the event that other coders are struggling with their own project, here’s how I finally figured out how to print out the “column: value” pairs for every row in my spreadsheet:. 1 Comment ». I wish you luck, Brian, and what’s more (since you mention ‘val’ and IDLE):. 8211; the inspect module in the Python standard library. 8211; Vasudev Ram. 8212; November 1, 2007 @ 5:48 pm.

Musings of an anonymous geek. November 13, 2007. 8212; m0j0 @ 8:21 am. The short story is that there was a computer scientist in the room who uses Python quite frequently, by choice. He uses Java and Perl as well, but often chooses Python because, he says, it’s the easiest way to get things done in a lot of cases. Anyway, *he* said I did a good job, so if anyone else wants to check out the slides, it’s easy enough. Leave a Comment ». Feed for comments on this post. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Follow &ldq...

Musings of an anonymous geek. October 25, 2007. 8212; m0j0 @ 9:01 pm. I have to admit that I have not really made friends with Python as a web scripting language. I use it for network, system, and database scripting, and I’ve done some web services stuff with it, but I haven’t been able to use it for things that have, say, a browser interface. Until the other night. Leave a Comment ». Feed for comments on this post. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Address never made public). Follow &...

Musings of an anonymous geek. October 26, 2007. Python, regex, and IRC. 8212; m0j0 @ 8:53 am. So, I’m on IRC a lot. I’m on a lot of channels, too. I’m on more than one Python channel. One scenario in these chans that comes up somewhat often is one in which a user converting from PHP, Perl, Ruby, or whatever walk in and want to get a better understanding of how regex works in Python. About the proper use (or non-use) of regular expressions. That was weeks ago now. I got no bites. 1 Comment ». That’s...

Some day, a language will exist that works as flawlessly across platforms as printing sucks across platforms. That will be a wonderful day (until and unless you have to print something). Musings of an anonymous geek. January 16, 2006. Yet another blog service. 8212; m0j0 @ 10:52 pm. This is my first post in my WordPress blog. I signed up at wordpress.com and got one. My first blog was at blogspot.com, which is run by blogger.com. That was my first taste of blogging, and it took me a long time to get used to the idea of jotting down my thoughts on occasion. The solution to this problem? 2 Comments ». 8212; March 8, 2007 @ 9:09 am. I had a nightmare of a time with Blogger – has it go...

Musings of an anonymous geek. October 25, 2007. Recovering deleted files from an svn repository. 8212; m0j0 @ 9:13 pm. I know I’m going to forget how to do this, because I only ever need to do it once a year or something, so I’ll put it here for safe keeping:. Svn log - verbose. Svn up -r 250 file.txt. Done It’s there waiting for you. Enjoy. I had been fumbling around with ‘svn co’ syntax until a digital buddy of mine corrected me. Thanks, Nivex! 13 Comments ». 8212; April 22, 2008 @ 1:16 am. About two hours ago, I signed up online for Verizon’s new Fiber Optic internet service. About 10 minutes ago, I canceled the order. As it turns out, FIOS is just a really cool shiny thing they hold in front of you so they can get your permission to pull out any trace of copper from your property. That’s right, folks! Not only that, but the copper is *permanently* removed! I got ...

Has been deemed “viable” using all of the important business metrics that they use to evaluate the magazine. This is fantastic news, and speaks volumes about the viability of the magazine in *non* business terms, as well as the model we’ve been employing at MTA since 2002. And not with Python Magazine.
