Published on July 31, 2009. This is my company, Owl Advisors. It's just me for the moment, but I hope to grow the company over the course of. um. the economic recovery ;-). We do technology training and consulting/project management. While we do work with a wide variety of technologies on the project management end of things, hands on consulting and training focuses mostly on Linux, LAMP, and open source infrastructure services like Samba, BIND, etc. This is a list of the latest 1 links.

TinyMCE and Static File Optimization Working. I was a little confused at first, but after a while of thinking about it, it came to me: if you're not serving the files from Django, you don't really need to configure Django to do anything at all! The answer is "you shouldn't have a URLConf for stuff Django isn't serving! It's not doing anything else anyway (other sites I host there have their own Apache instances as well). Getting at your Google Spreadsheets columns | Musings of an anonymous geek

Musings of an anonymous geek. October 31, 2007. Getting at your Google Spreadsheets columns. 8212; m0j0 @ 8:29 am. For now, though, in the event that other coders are struggling with their own project, here’s how I finally figured out how to print out the “column: value” pairs for every row in my spreadsheet:. 1 Comment ». My Python Presentation | Musings of an anonymous geek

https://m0j0.wordpress.com/2007/11/13/my-python-presentation

Musings of an anonymous geek. November 13, 2007. 8212; m0j0 @ 8:21 am. The short story is that there was a computer scientist in the room who uses Python quite frequently, by choice. He uses Java and Perl as well, but often chooses Python because, he says, it’s the easiest way to get things done in a lot of cases. Anyway, *he* said I did a good job, so if anyone else wants to check out the slides, it’s easy enough. Leave a Comment ». Feed for comments on this post. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Follow &ldq...

Musings of an anonymous geek. October 25, 2007. 8212; m0j0 @ 9:01 pm. I have to admit that I have not really made friends with Python as a web scripting language. I use it for network, system, and database scripting, and I’ve done some web services stuff with it, but I haven’t been able to use it for things that have, say, a browser interface. Until the other night. Leave a Comment ». Feed for comments on this post. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Address never made public). Follow &...

Python, regex, and IRC | Musings of an anonymous geek

Musings of an anonymous geek. October 26, 2007. Python, regex, and IRC. 8212; m0j0 @ 8:53 am. So, I’m on IRC a lot. I’m on a lot of channels, too. I’m on more than one Python channel. One scenario in these chans that comes up somewhat often is one in which a user converting from PHP, Perl, Ruby, or whatever walk in and want to get a better understanding of how regex works in Python. About the proper use (or non-use) of regular expressions. That was weeks ago now. I got no bites. 1 Comment ». That’s...

Musings of an anonymous geek. December 15, 2005. Verizon Fios: You must be joking. Filed under: Me stuff. 8212; m0j0 @ 2:29 pm. About two hours ago, I signed up online for Verizon’s new Fiber Optic internet service. About 10 minutes ago, I canceled the order. Musings of an anonymous geek. November 1, 2007. Python Magazine Defies Skeptics. Filed under: Big Ideas. 8212; m0j0 @ 8:40 am. I was informed today by the publisher. Has been deemed “viable” using all of the important business metrics that they use to evaluate the magazine. linux lab not for the masses

Linux lab not for the masses. Building a new linux lab in 3, err 4 hours. Lets see if i can make this! I’ve laid out some basic things for now. Obviously a subnet (192.168.50.0/24). A firewall (192.168.50.1) which will be installed first and then cloned for at least another system to save time. A iSCSI subnet in there, potentially vlan-based but rather another „virtual“ lan. A Filer Emu box (ontap 7.3). I’d paste this here if opera didnt suck balls right now. Ok the script ended up with some little bugs,...
