THE DABBLER: Worst (most infrequent) blogger of the year
http://robthedabbler.blogspot.com/2010/04/worst-most-infrequent-blogger-of-year.html
Saturday, April 3, 2010. Worst (most infrequent) blogger of the year. I have figured out that I am really not all that good at blogging. I am not sure if it is because I am lazy, I have nothing to say, or both. Anyway, I have a few things to share today so here goes. Here is an image of the last painting that I finished. It is called Cruising Poses. It is mostly watercolor and gouache with some collage and spray paint thrown in. It is pretty big at 44.5" x34". Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Adventures In Lindaland: 9:32

My random musings - a lot about nothing! Tuesday, April 1, 2014. I don't make New Year's resolutions, per se, but rather a vague promise to myself to "do better." Sure, assigning lofty goals and metrics is one way to go about it, but I've found that self-fulfillment can be distilled into a simple spreadsheet divided into two columns: Column A - What Sustains Me and Column B - What Impedes Me. I'm excited to find out. Next, What Impedes Me. A lot more difficult to review. 1) drinking. What is too much?

THE DABBLER: March 2010
http://robthedabbler.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Saturday, March 6, 2010. The Big Move (TBM). So I have this thing I call “The Big Move” (TBM). I’ve been working TBM. In my studio for many years. TBM. Is a gutsy, risk taking, balls-out action that normally happens at the end of one of my studio sessions when I am stuck, frustrated (and/or drunk.) TBM. Always feels good, but it is a hit-and-run kind of scene (my last move) and I never know how good the actual results are until I come back the next day for a sober survey. Links to this post. A dilettante...

THE DABBLER: Nina Rizzo at Linda Warren
http://robthedabbler.blogspot.com/2010/04/nina-rizzo-at-linda-warren.html
Sunday, April 11, 2010. Nina Rizzo at Linda Warren. Nina Rizzo's show at Linda Warren. Is one of the best that I have seen in a while. The paintings are pretty fresh- they feel like they were painted in a couple of hours, but we know that could not possibly be true. When we walked into the gallery my friend Retta's little girl Francesca ran right up to this one (above) called Thaw. She loved the paintings too. She's 3 and she knows good painting when she sees it! Go check out this show!

Adventures In Lindaland: February 2012
http://adventuresinlindaland.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
My random musings - a lot about nothing! Sunday, February 26, 2012. A strange new world. This semester (for the critique class that I'm taking at SAIC) I'm finding myself taking somewhat of a detour from my usual acrylic figure paintings. But I do miss my acrylic figurative work. Saturday, February 18, 2012. I'm struggling with strength training at the gym and wishing for greater progress. Once again, I'm my own worse enemy with self-criticism and doubt. Can't shake a feeling of inadequacy. Had some good...

Adventures In Lindaland: fiction based on the news
http://adventuresinlindaland.blogspot.com/2013/02/fiction-based-on-news.html
My random musings - a lot about nothing! Saturday, February 9, 2013. Fiction based on the news. So, I protested my last writing assignment on principle. That doesn't mean I didn't do it. I found an article in the Sun-Times about Brandon Saad's first goal, so I used that as the jumping off point for the story below. Fiction based very loosely on a few facts. Give it a read if you are so inclined. October 27, 2008. Boardman, Ohio was not too far from Gibsonia, Pennsylvania, but for Brandon, the intense...

Adventures In Lindaland: August 2012
http://adventuresinlindaland.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
My random musings - a lot about nothing! Sunday, August 26, 2012. It's been a long time since I've posted because it has been a very eventful and difficult summer. Also, my sister relocated to a distant suburb to insure a good school system for my niece and nephew and that change has been difficult on all of us, as all of us navigate insecurities that somehow this physical distance will test the bonds we have and rely on so heavily. Adventures In Lindaland: It's been almost a year...
http://adventuresinlindaland.blogspot.com/2014/01/its-been-almost-year.html
My random musings - a lot about nothing! Wednesday, January 22, 2014. It's been almost a year. I don't know how or why I got away from writing. I enjoy it. Here's to 2014 and a new start. I changed the look and color scheme of the blog to keep things interesting (or at least to keep me engaged- I have a short attention span). So, what's happened in the past year? In December, John and I jaunted to western PA for my friend Louann's surprise 50th birthday party. So, hello again, blog. Nice to be back.

Adventures In Lindaland: January 2014
http://adventuresinlindaland.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
My random musings - a lot about nothing! Thursday, January 23, 2014. Today I had my very first karate lesson. It's something that I've been toying with doing for a few years now. Found a dojo fairly close to me (on South Michigan Avenue) called Imazaki Dojo, so I set up a free session for lunchtime today. Here are some of my thoughts and what I learned today:. 1) it's a barefoot activity and my pedicure is solely lacking. Epic fail. I had a BLAST! For the next two weeks, I'm allowed unlimited sessions fo...
