23 Things: Module 2: Hardware

http://www.loudlibrarian-23things.blogspot.com/2009/11/module-2-hardware.html

Sunday, November 22, 2009. I think it's amazing what technologies are available today! I think it's great that more and more we as a human race can see past people's disabilities and they can become amazing artists, scientists, or whatever they capable of. I really liked enable mart and found a lot of great things that I used just a few of for my hardware selection. We have a certain percentage of students who become temporarily disabled - mostly due to sports injuries - that we do not accommodate.

http://www.loudlibrarian-23things.blogspot.com/2009/11/week-9-podcasts-e-books-and-audiobooks.html

Tuesday, November 3, 2009. Week 9: Podcasts, E-Books and Audiobooks, Readings and Summary. Thing #21: I looked at podcast.com and found a podcast from one of my favorite personal finance gurus, Dave Ramsey. I signed up for an account and added a widget to my bookmarks. I am a huge i-tunes fan and like to buy one song at a time and also listen to podcasts from the Breadloaf conferences from Middlebury College. Best Places to Get Free Books. http://www.loudlibrarian-23things.blogspot.com/2009/11/module-3-software.html

Sunday, November 29, 2009. And developed one for my software project that I posted on this week's discussion board. The software downloads from this module were very interesting and easy to use. I really liked Inspiration. I played with some mind maps last year thinking that my students would really like them. I downloaded a free copy of Buzan's Mindmapping Software. November 30, 2009 at 11:21 AM. Thanks for sharing your insights about automation system decisions - theyre very important.

23 Technology Things: Week #14 - Module #4 - Etiquette

http://23technologythings.blogspot.com/2009/11/module-4-etiquette.html

Monday, November 30, 2009. Week #14 - Module #4 - Etiquette. I am impressed by the amount of literature that has been printed and posted regarding only etiquette! Much of what I understand about netiquette is common sense. I like how Virgnia Shea, author of the online book. First chapter "Remember the Human". It seems that is what all forms of communication boils down to. Was featured in a PBS video titled Growing Up Online. It was very powerful if anyone is interested in checking it out. Good point abou...

23 Technology Things: Week #10 - Module #1

http://23technologythings.blogspot.com/2009/11/week-10-module-1.html

Thursday, November 12, 2009. Week #10 - Module #1. First, I am so pleased to at last be receiving some direct instruction on the subject of assistive technology. When I earned my undergraduate degree I was not required to take any special education courses to graduate and I regret not having taken any as electives. Thankfully, since I graduated in 1995, the requirements have changed and all education majors must take some special education coursework. Now to focus in on the task at hand. Challenge studen...

23 Technology Things: Week #11 – Module #2

http://23technologythings.blogspot.com/2009/11/week-11-module-2.html

Monday, November 16, 2009. Week #11 – Module #2. This weeks’ exploration of assistive technologies was very eye opening. When I worked as an elementary school teacher I had students who used some assistive technologies, but that was 5 years ago and it seems like the technology has come so far since then. This is not surprising, of course. I couldn’t believe the head mouse and virtual keyboard. Genius! There is so much educators can do to improve the learning environment of students with special needs.

Thursday, December 17, 2009. Two Best Readings of the Semester. By far my favorite text this semester was Courtney's. Library 2.0 and Beyond. I enjoyed the collection of articles. It was a refreshing departure from a banal text. I also appreciated that the information was current and provided a concrete ideas and websites for reference. Thursday, November 26, 2009. AT Tasks Week 3- Software Part 1. I really enjoyed learning about Dragon NaturallySpeaking Preferred 9.5 and Kurzweil 3000! Ways to implement AT into the school library media center? I was really shocked that Microsoft has so many simple AT modifications built into computer operating systems (without having to purchase any additional software! November 27, 2009 at 11:20 AM. Secret Life of a Techie Librarian: Thing #23--This is it!

http://secretlifeofatechielibrarian.blogspot.com/2009/11/thing-23-this-is-it.html

Sunday, November 8, 2009. Thing #23- This is it! I can't believe the journey is coming to an end! Oh the many things I've learned and experienced (not the mention the joys of this online diary :)! There are a couple of highlights for me, but first answers to a few questions. One thing I think this program could improve upon is the PR aspect. I've never come across the program in all of my readings, online searching, etc. I wish that more people (esp. teachers and librarians) knew about it!

Secret Life of a Techie Librarian: AT Tasks Week 4--Part One

http://secretlifeofatechielibrarian.blogspot.com/2009/12/at-tasks-week-4-part-one.html

Friday, December 4, 2009. AT Tasks Week 4- Part One. This success story is one I'll never forget! It really showed how people could work together to help students, especially students with disabilities. And, it really made me think about what's important as a special education teacher (and now as a future librarian)- the needs of students (users). I really liked the "Ten Commandments of Communicating with People with Disabilities". I think everyone should have access to these reminders! Great story, Erin!
