Claydog: Adios April
http://claydog-story.blogspot.com/2011/04/adios-april.html
Saturday, April 30, 2011. The past couple of days of the month have brought some good moments. I'm lucky to work in an area where there are a couple of ponds. April is a good time for geese -rearing. It's also a good time for mockingbird homebuilders. This fellow and his mate spent a week or so feathering the nest in a holly bush outside my office window. Perhaps the eggs will hatch over the weekend? To make it cave art. :) It's glazed and ready for the glaze firing. Another class project was to make a l...

Claydog: July 2009
http://claydog-story.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, July 28, 2009. I confess. Summer is not my favourite time of the year. Hot temps and high humidity (lately I feel like I need gills just to breathe) attacks my energy reserves and just plain saps my desire to do anything about it. So I haven't been blogging. Nor have I been hanging out as much at Clayworks (where it's hot, hot and more. So, as lightning takes the stage and the thunder claps, I'm going to use my newfound energy to make more birds and finally. The last firing of the gas kiln yield...

Claydog: November 2009
http://claydog-story.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, November 1, 2009. Barrel firings can be very fickle affairs. The barrel might get too hot or not hot enough. Humidity plays into the mix. And rain always complicates things. The wondrous thing about this kind of firing is that we can do it again. Any pieces that didn't capture the colour we hoped can be fired again. And fire again we shall. Saturday 11/07. All Hallows Eve 2009. Is there any better date to do a barrel firing at Clayworks? I'm looking for magic. I'll post pix of the results onc...

Tuesday, March 22, 2011. Gas Kiln Firing 03/19/11. I always look forward to weekends when the studio/resident artists at Clayworks. Fire the gas kiln. Loading the kiln is an art in itself. We usually do that on a Friday evening before turning on the gas and letting it candle overnight. On this table is about one third of our work. There were so many pieces on the shelves we were unable to get everything in for this firing. (Yay! Weekend at Clayworks will be coming soon! Pictured above, roughly front to b...

Friday, January 28, 2011. Some years back, Susan. A dear friend who re-introduced me to pottery - decided it would be a nice gift to take a day off at birthday time and spend that day at Clayworks. Thank you, Sooz, for the very special remembrances. And thanks to all of my friends at Clayworks who shared special birthday wishes. Who knew that yucca branches could be turned into brushes with a little bit of saliva? Pendants. Glazed all three of these - two will be fired to 10, one is a test at 5. Seems it...
