I'm already sewing! - Diary of a Costumer
http://theladyrebecca.livejournal.com/147365.html
Diary of a Costumer. Aug 9th, 2015 at 1:13 AM. I finished the chemisette on the bus home on Friday, like I thought I would. Heres a pic:. I also started work on my 1890s skirt on Friday night, by cutting out the pattern pieces and the actual skirt pieces, using the Butterick walking skirt pattern on the plaid heavy cotton I found at the Bargain Basement. Today, I finished up the skirt completely, including the hem. 5 comments Leave a comment. Aug 9th, 2015 02:32 pm (UTC). Aug 9th, 2015 04:47 pm (UTC).

Thank you! - Corset College

Oct 12th, 2010 at 3:39 PM. After making several little adjustments to my pattern that you kindly suggested, I cut out a new mock-up, sewed it up, laced it as was suggested, and it is almost perfect; the gap is almost completely parallel. So, I just wanted to say thanks for the advice. :). Powered by LiveJournal.com.

My first corset - Corset College
http://corset-college.livejournal.com/9486.html
Nov 13th, 2010 at 7:08 PM. I just finished this the other week. It's the 1860 corset from Jill Salen's corset book. It's one layer of some plain-weave fabric, feels like canvas, and one layer of thin, synthetic satin. Boned with spring steel on the back seams, cable ties on the side seams, and spiral steel on the front seams. 4 comments Leave a comment. Nov 14th, 2010 07:17 am (UTC). Not bad for a first try. The back in particular laces up incredibly evenly. Nov 14th, 2010 09:01 pm (UTC).

1890s sleeve supports? - Diary of a Costumer
http://theladyrebecca.livejournal.com/147897.html
Diary of a Costumer. Aug 11th, 2015 at 12:37 PM. I cut out all my bodice pieces for the 1890s bodice last night. I had enough fabric that I was actually able to pay attention to the plaid, so hopefully everything will match up when I go to actually sew them together! I started the flatlining on a few pieces, but then I had to go to bed. My goal is to finish flatlining and sew them together tonight. And then maybe tomorrow Ill take it with me to Joanns and figure out the sleeve fabric. On March, 1st, 1896...

This trim is tricky! - Rejoicing with the Truth
http://nuranar.livejournal.com/359881.html
Rejoicing with the Truth. Reader, singer, seamstress, saint. This trim is tricky! May 27th, 2015 at 7:07 PM. I'm looking for other examples for ideas/clarification. Here' some of what I've found. Gown trim looks padded. Petticoat trim looks bunched; probably not padded. Not box pleated. Not positive what's going on here. Maybe a zigzag row of ruching, which is then bunched into loose box pleats? Nicole did zigzag ruching on her polonaise. Just for interest - honeycomb smocking. Or what looks like it to me.

Proof of progress - sarahlizzi. 22 February 2009 @ 10:13 pm. Today I did 4 loads of laundry, cleaned my house, ironed 3 blouses, made a cover for my brother's chair, altered a shirt (stupid j crew vanity sizing), watched 3 episodes of angel, hung out with my brother and sister, took a mini-nap, photographed (poorly) my latest sewing accomplishments, cooked dinner for three (chicken marsala, risotto, and broccoli) and even managed to shave my legs. Again, a self portrait (I need to fix my tripod! I love t...

Natural Form Teagown | The Modern Mantua-Maker
https://themodernmantuamaker.wordpress.com/2015/05/01/natural-form-teagown
One Person, Two Sewing Personalities. This project was finished about a month ago, but I only just got photos of me in it this week, so waited until now to do a proper post. I started this early in the year and used it as my entry for the Historical Sew Monthly. Challenge for March: Stashbusting. My teagown is a combination of this inspiration original piece (It’s dated 1886 but I don’t know by what authority and the overall silhouette looks comparable to Natural Form to me):. As my base pattern:. Less m...

Gifts for new mommies - lorelei01
http://lorelei01.livejournal.com/29518.html
Gifts for new mommies. Apr 4th, 2011 at 11:46 PM. Hey all :) I know I haven't been around for a loooong while. I have a lot of catch up posts to make. Weee! Thought I'd start with this weekend's projects. I have one friend that just had a baby, and another that is about to have a baby. I made one of these for a previous friend and she really enjoyed it and had lots of people ask about it. so thought I'd make some more. It's a baby wipe case masquerading as a clutch.
