Day 25 - Post exam update. After reinstalling the transaxle the next step towards having the wheels on is fitting the bearings. I used the new sealed bearings available from Auckland Bearings which are far superior to the old greasy race-style ones - they're definitely cleaner to work with : ). The Haynes manual exploded view of the bearings. The nice new sealed bearings. By using 'the gorilla equipment'. This means A LOT of leverage:. The proud stud that was causing the catching noise. This is how I roll.

Is over the weekend of the 18th and 19th this month. I thought it would be pretty cool for the buggy to be displayed as an 'unfinished project'. After some asking around and some form-filling-out I found out that m. Y car cannot be in with the hot rods because, well, it's not a hot rod. I'm a 16 year old student at Auckland Grammar School and I'm building a Manx style beach buggy using a mid 1960's air cooled VW Beetle donor chassis. I'm using the 'How to' booklet available from. 8203; as a guide.

This week we cruised up to the 2015 Bug Jam. It was a nice day and some really cool cars showed up! We have just completed the CRC Speedshow and unfortunately it was greatly affected by the crappy weather. We really felt for the guys outside - the wind was starting to get the better of the 'EZups'. Thanks to everyone who stopped by, it was a pleasure meeting you all. Just to reiterate, even though it is called a 'beach buggy', it is being built to be fully road legal (vinned, certed, rego'd, warranted etc.) and will be driven on the street as opposed to on the beach. 8203; as a guide.
