(Still) Going to Graceland: November 2012
http://stillgoingtograceland.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
Saturday, November 3, 2012. Before the World Wakes Up. And I realized this is what I've been missing. We've settled in a new town, a new job and a new house, and we are marvelously in love with all of them, but something has been missing. It's been a madhouse of busyness as we've gotten settled and had company and, and, and. and I've missed having a chance to wander around with eyes open in holy wonder. Turns out there was nothing "ungodly" about the hour. Sabbath in the Suburbs. View my complete profile.

Lost in Wonder Love and Praise | The Viau From Here

The Viau From Here. Test-driving my point of view. Lost in Wonder Love and Praise. August 2, 2015. September 10, 2015. Being the Church Series. Preaching the Great Ends of the Church – The Preservation of Divine Worship. Hebrews 9:1-7, 11-14. Like many of you, I have my favorite worship settings, and there are some styles of music that I prefer. For many of our spiritual ancestors, choice and preference in worship would be a foreign concept. The question for me becomes why? Up to this point, God had been...

Volume II: The Sacred and the Profane
http://kathrynzj.blogspot.com/2015/03/the-sacred-and-profane.html
VOLUME II: When the lessons of the past catapult you into the future. Thursday, March 5, 2015. The Sacred and the Profane. My guess is every profession when mixed with the personal can get a bit surreal. In the middle of picking out pictures and printing them out the phone rang. It was the niece of a beloved parishioner - he had been admitted to hospice. I found out the details, hung up the phone. found the glue and the scissors and kept the project going. I'm exhausted by the sacred. In the Big Inning.

Defining Selah: Dear Child of God
http://definingselah.blogspot.com/2015/03/dear-child-of-god.html
A Coloradexan pastor's thoughts about life. Friday, March 20, 2015. Dear Child of God. The following is a slightly edited and more vulnerable version of the last sermon I preached at First Presbyterian Church of Luling before taking my maternity leave. Dear Child of God,. I wonder if you know how loved you are. You are not even born yet, but your world is filled with unbelievable love for you. I have searched my heart, hoping to have enough love to offer you. In these past 9 months,. This might be a frig...

The place where Marci blogs about God's abundance. I’ve been doing some good and hard work in counseling ever since I got my original birth certificate and found my birth family a few years ago. The place where Marci blogs about God's abundance. Sanctity of the Wedding Mill. October 20, 2014. Donald and Lynn Knapp are licensed ministers in the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel. Which is great and all. They also own a wedding business in City of Coeur D’Alene that illustrates how sacred marriage is by removing it from the church and putting it in a for-profit business called The Hitching Post. They claim to have married roughly 35,000 couples. Now that the State of Idaho is recognizin...

Defining Selah: March 2012
http://definingselah.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
A Coloradexan pastor's thoughts about life. Friday, March 30, 2012. I'm afraid I've contracted a serious case of senioritis. I'm not sure there's a cure for this, other than finishing classes on May 4th. I've been doing a lot of things other than homework these days. Read the Hunger Games. Knit cute baby clothes. And mapped out the church deserts in Austin, TX. That last one is the result of what happens when a would-be cartographer/demographer goes to seminary. View Presbyterian Churches in Austin.

Defining Selah: February 2012
http://definingselah.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
A Coloradexan pastor's thoughts about life. Wednesday, February 29, 2012. The church where I attend and currently serve as intern has a weekly dinner on Wednesday nights. We call it a potluck, but not many bring food to share because the church provides plenty for all. And it's free. I was amazed by her servant's heart and her desire to serve another person. I had to laugh though, when she yelled her mom to fix a plate for her. Guess she wasn't interested in serving herself! Tuesday, February 28, 2012.

Faith, Grace, and Hope: July 2015
http://lutheranjulia.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Faith, Grace, and Hope. Saturday, July 25, 2015. This week’s narrative reading is:. Ecclesiastes 1:1-11; 3:1-17. 1:1 The words of the Teacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem. 2 Vanity of vanities, says the Teacher, vanity of vanities! All is vanity. 3 What do people gain from all the toil at which they toil under the sun? It has already been, in the ages before us. 11 The people of long ago are not remembered, nor will there be any remembrance of people yet to come by those who come after them.

What goes around… | The Viau From Here

The Viau From Here. Test-driving my point of view. What goes around…. August 7, 2015. August 8, 2015. A friend of mine talks about the season of grief she went through when her husband died as a long journey to the very end of herself. It was a lonely, tear-streaked place, where she was a sobbing, angry mess. And so I did. I took care of myself, for a change. I asked for an extension on a project. I did the few things that needed done right then. And then I stopped. About 12:15 today, I walked out to the...
