View From an Irish Back Yard. Musings, thoughts and anecdotes from an Irish-American Family. More About Maryann…. My shout out to working moms, or moms who work, or pretty much every mom I know. April 3, 2015. April 3, 2015. It’s been a good lesson in time management, patience and, above all, honesty with myself. And here’s the deal – blogging (for me), isn’t. But, writing as a job is really hard work. It takes constant practice, trial and error, and a rubbery thick skin, to maintain. Hoping to. Another ...

View From an Irish Back Yard. Musings, thoughts and anecdotes from an Irish-American Family. More About Maryann…. February 26, 2015. February 27, 2015. I’m having a stand-off with a bag of salad in my refrigerator. To redeem a “free panty” coupon, when I found myself hijacked into trying on sports bras in the dressing room, a shop assistant coaching me to “jump up and down to test the support” while I was in there. Looking at myself, I rather felt like a squeezed balloon. Be My habits aren’t. I just love...

View From an Irish Back Yard. Musings, thoughts and anecdotes from an Irish-American Family. More About Maryann…. August 5, 2015. August 5, 2015. Éamon de Valera, early St. Patrick’s Day message. My husband, Frank, has been working on a film project of late, another documentary in the same vein as the “140”. Project he did in 2010. It’s called “I Am Ireland,”. So, what is the project, exactly? Well, you can refer to Frank’s blog. What can and should Ireland be doing to hold on to her young people? But we...

View From an Irish Back Yard. Musings, thoughts and anecdotes from an Irish-American Family. More About Maryann…. End of an era. May 29, 2015. May 30, 2015. Paddling at Santa Cruz on Memorial Day. And so much has changed for us, for the better, even in the last six months! Goodbye to the faithful Bandit. So we said goodbye to the minivan, donated it to charity and watched it get towed away, which was a little bittersweet after she had taken on us on such an adventure to get here. Cupertino, CA, USA.

my life, rarely chronicled: August 2011
http://philopaideia.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
My life, rarely chronicled. Sunday, August 14, 2011. Back to the basics. I'm a huge sucker for 2 kinds of books (well, lots of kinds, but for story's sake, here we go): 1) old-school children's books, and 2) historical novels. Now, NOT the icky romance for $2 historical novels. But right now I'm reading Francine Rivers' Sons of Encouragement. It's actually 5 short books about men of the Bible. They're definitely historically-based, but the author has added fictional details that may. Back to the basics.

Friday, June 05, 2015. FLOAT CHAPTE ONE: THE BEDROOM CEILING. PS Excuse the typos! I don't have an editor! Right now I ache. My body is sore. It’s been punished this week. I should be dead. But this thing, whatever it is, is keeping me alive. At first it was flight. But then other things. I’m no superhero, you should know that first off. But my body has changed. I’ve changed. At first I didn’t know where it came from. Government experiment? Was I mad, locked up in a mental hospital, hallucinating? HMV Br...

Thursday, May 21, 2015. I Am Ireland - Deadline Announced. I would like to announce the Deadline for Submission to 'I Am Ireland' - August 31st 2015. I felt the project needed a deadline. It gives everyone a clear timeline and something to aim for. Plus it gives me time to gather all the clips, watch them, log them and start to figure out the structure and themes of the film. Then of course I have to sit down and edit the whole thing! Get in touch with me, I'll let you know how you can upload your clip t...

He has 8 teeth all the way in and is working on his 4 molars and 4 canine teeth. He still hasn't slept through the night yet, but surely he will some day.right? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

All kinds of time. A rock. Me. A hard place. Nigh on 4 months ago I thought we'd be moving soon. How misled and naive I was back then. Yet even now I am too lazy to figure out how to get the double dots over the "i" in naive. I haven't written about one single country in Africa, as I intended. Maybe I'll start doing that now that things are crazy and we're moving to Kuala Lumpur. Did I mention we're moving to Malaysia? Maybe I'll pick up some Mandarin whilst bouncing around Asia. I'm getting a motorcycle...

Freitag, 26. September 2014.
