The islet attracts lots of families and tourist who enjoy walking through the shallow shore. During low tide people enjoy picking clams. In August of 1907, the. Brenham Creamery Company opened its doors. In the beginning they only made butter, but by 1911, they made a gallon or two of ice cream a day. They packed it in a large wooden tub with ice and salt and delivered it by horse and wagon to a few of their friends and neighbors around Brenham.
