Crossed Wires: Wednesday

http://melscott.blogspot.com/2011/02/wednesday.html

A journey into writing, reading and whatever else happens. February 02, 2011. Was very busy but 1155 words were achieved, so all is good. Back tomorrow, no brain left for blogging tonight. Crossed Wires: Enough

http://melscott.blogspot.com/2011/02/enough.html

A journey into writing, reading and whatever else happens. February 05, 2011. Well, yesterday was not the most stellar writing day and today was worse. Yesterday I wrote 700 words in a rush only to accidentally hit the off button on my netbook and lose it all. Then Cyclone Yasi's tail decided to drop about a month's rain on Melbourne in a day and I had more pressing issues to deal with like bailing out my backyard. I did eventually write another 1000 words or so but only by staying up too late. Are we do...

Crossed Wires: February contest

http://melscott.blogspot.com/2011/02/february-contest.html

A journey into writing, reading and whatever else happens. February 05, 2011. In true Chinese New Year do-over fashion I find myself starting my contest back up again in February rather than January but better late than never. This month I thought I'd turn my attention to Urban Fantasy and one of my favourite series in recent years. February's contest prize is Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews. As usual, my reasons for the contest are here. Posted by M.J. And Happy Chinese New Year! Follow me on Twitter.

Crossed Wires: July 2010

http://melscott.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html

A journey into writing, reading and whatever else happens. July 23, 2010. Sometime in late July 2001 I attended a talk at the Victorian Writers Centre given by Anne Gracie. I think she was pretty much the first real live author I'd met at that point. Fired up by what she had to say (and somewhat struck by the somehow-had-escaped-me-until-then fact that authors are just people and maybe I could really be one), I finished my first novel manuscript in September 2001. Posted by M.J. July 11, 2010. But the wo...

Crossed Wires: Moving on

http://melscott.blogspot.com/2011/02/moving-on.html

A journey into writing, reading and whatever else happens. February 13, 2011. Okay everyone, it makes me kind of sad, but this blog is making part one of its move to Wordpress. It's temporarily relocating to a WordPress.com version which is here. Please update any links. I'll be posting new posts over there but will make one more post here as I'm going to be moving to WordPress.org once I change webhosts! Posted by M.J. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Writing Up a Storm: May 2010

http://therobynblog.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html

Writing Up a Storm. Monday, May 31, 2010. When Secondary Characters Attack. I was doing some revision tonight. Well, to set the scene, I was sitting in Starbucks, drinking a hazelnut latte FAR TOO LATE in the evening, plus a cupcake, plus a krispy kreme (and I wonder why I can't lose weight? With Gabrielle sitting across from me pretending to revise but probably reading Facebook. The dreaded 'secondary-character-who-leaps-off-the-page' syndrome. Deal with it, you gorgeous thing. Writing Up a Storm: Not the sharpest tool

http://therobynblog.blogspot.com/2010/10/not-sharpest-tool.html

Writing Up a Storm. Friday, October 8, 2010. Not the sharpest tool. So, how long have we owned this cafe? Since january, so that's ten months. So why in the name of God's green earth did I never put it together that:. A) i have always written well in cafes. B) i now have my own cafe and should perhaps, oh, i don't know - WRITE IN IT! Now, I understand that during the day there's work to do (and most nights too) and babies to play with and love and cherish, but after the cherub has gone to bed? October 30...

Writing Up a Storm. Monday, April 19, 2010. Today in Brunswick on the way home from the supermarket. Me: "that's a very sweet dog.". Him: "Yep. He's a brunswick terrier.". I've never heard of that.". Hm, laughing. "it just means he's a mutt, like Brunswick.". I love mutts. I love this place. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Blogs I Love by Authors I Love. Writing Up a Storm: September 2009

http://therobynblog.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html

Writing Up a Storm. Thursday, September 10, 2009. Reasons not to go shopping:. 1 People without prams always take the 'parents with prams' car spots. I know. I looked. They don't have baby seats in the back. Then I have to trudge on the road while cars whizz around the pram and it generally starts raining (poor me). But he said 'no, i'll wear them' with the expression of someone sentenced to enternal dagdom. Can i ask you if you use any eyecream? Because LOOK AT THOSE LINES AND BAGS UNDER YOUR EYES!

Writing Up a Storm: February 2011

http://therobynblog.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

Writing Up a Storm. Monday, February 7, 2011. I'm not supposed to be blogging right now. I should be doing my bookwork. But it's a big ugly pile of bookwork, with bills to pay and forms to fill in and applications to make and payrolls to run. Agggh. Doesn't my inbox know that I'm really not in the mood? But you can see my pile. If it could talk, it would not be using nice words. So i'm going to do fifteen minutes pile and five minutes blog. That way both me and the pile will be happy (in theory). Am bein...

Mel-Made: Crafty resolutions

http://melmakes.blogspot.com/2012/01/crafty-resolutions.html

Sewing, quilting, knitting, crochet and other crafting adventures/catastrophes. Saturday, January 7, 2012. It's a New Year and I've just gotten out of the walking boot that has been firmly attached to my right foot and limiting my world somewhat for the last three months.yep, I'm a klutz who busted her ankle! Not recommended. But it's on the mend now which hopefully means I'll be able to use my spinning wheel and sewing machine soon. So herewith are some crafty resolutions for the year:. Posted by M.J.

Mel-Made: July 2010

http://melmakes.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html

Sewing, quilting, knitting, crochet and other crafting adventures/catastrophes. Saturday, July 17, 2010. Yesterday the lovely Jo and I roadtripped it up to Bendigo for the annual Sheep and Wool Show. The weather cooperated and was cold but not rainy so we could drive and traipse around the show without fearing for our lives on the highway or getting soggy at the show. As per last year. Supersoft 8 ply merino. Possibly destined for a small shawl of some sort. If I stop petting it. More Premium Merino Sock...

Mel-Made: Toe-ectomy (or a tale of knitterly denial and remorse)

http://melmakes.blogspot.com/2011/07/toe-ectomy-or-tale-of-knitterly-denial.html

Sewing, quilting, knitting, crochet and other crafting adventures/catastrophes. Monday, July 25, 2011. Toe-ectomy (or a tale of knitterly denial and remorse). Well, having finished the green socks. And then wearing them around yesterday, I decided they were definitely too big. Which looked like this. And then turned into this. Eeek! Toe-ectomy. (sorry blurry pic, was overcome with the vapours again). So then I turned around and did it again on the other sock. Knitterly redemption! And lessons learned (pl...

Writing Up a Storm: March 2009

http://therobynblog.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html

Writing Up a Storm. Friday, March 27, 2009. So, finally, finally the revision is getting very close to being done. Oh, not the *final* revision - but the nuts and bolts - all my ducks in a row revision. 85% there in fact. It hasn't really been so difficult - it was just not being able to achieve as much as I normally can due to feeling tired after work - but I've stopped working now - so going great guns. Writing Up a Storm. Tuesday, October 13, 2009. Sunday, October 11, 2009. Daily words sit at 685. At this rate I will be finished the book by next easter. lol. Hubby is watching awful looking Section 9 alien movie. I gave up the ghost when limbs started flying. A girl's gotta draw the line somewhere. Friday, October 9, 2009. Nothing yesterday, nothing to day, but damn it, there will be words tomorrow! Wednesday, October 7, 2009. Tuesday, October 6, 2009. 0 is for Oops. Sad sad word day. I'm still on the s...

What's for Dinner

Recipes used in an attempt to eat locally in Austin, Texas. Monday, July 3, 2017. Granola, 2017 Style. Every few years, I switch up my granola recipe. It felt like it was time this summer. Lucky for me, I stumbled upon a cookbook at the library which had my latest and greatest granola recipe. The Latest and Greatest Granola, circa 2017. Adapted from The Dahlia Bakery Cookbook by Tom Douglas. 3 1/2 c rolled oats (not quick). 1/2 c unsweetened, shredded coconut. 1/4 c sesame seeds or pumpkin seeds. Secondl...

A journey into writing, reading and whatever else happens. February 14, 2011. The one with the last post. Hey everyone, as intimated in my last post, I have a new (final) blog home. So come on over to the new improved Crossed Wires. I'll be leaving this blog up for awhile while to let everyone know what's happened but I won't be updating here anymore.
