FoodieOnTour | Food, Family, and a Sprinkling of Fitness: June 2014
http://foodie-ontour.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Saturday, 14 June 2014. Restaurant Review - Oxford's Grill. Location: 21 Cowley Road, Oxford OX4 1HP, UK. With its bright red, budget-looking signage and windows busily adorned with menus, frosting and stick-on text, the cafe lacks any kind of kerb appeal. My only real desire to visit was born from hearing numerous people raving about it, about the amazing food within. Upon reaching the end of our meal, as MiniF2 was beginning to become unsettled, we agreed we needed to return - a lot! With this quality ...

FoodieOnTour | Food, Family, and a Sprinkling of Fitness: Dining out with Demons
http://foodie-ontour.blogspot.com/2015/07/dining-out-with-demons.html
Thursday, 16 July 2015. Dining out with Demons. Location: Oxford, Oxford, UK. The chocolate's at the bottom of the bowl, right? Even when the kids were little, we could just leave them sat next to us in their car seat and they'd happily sleep all the way through the meal. Not these days. These days dining out can be sheer and utter hell. Visiting with a group of mums and kids, we experienced quite possibly the worst customer service I’ve encountered yet. An absurdly rude owner, parent to four a...The who...

FoodieOnTour | Food, Family, and a Sprinkling of Fitness: Recipe - Easy Peasy Rock Cakes
http://foodie-ontour.blogspot.com/2015/01/recipe-easy-peasy-rock-cakes.html
Sunday, 11 January 2015. Recipe - Easy Peasy Rock Cakes. Location: Oxford, Oxford, UK. I've never watched Great British Bake Off before. There, I've said it [runs for cover]. Before last year that is. Last year I watched GBBO for the very first time and realised what everyone else did ages ago, that it’s awesome! Seeing all those delicious creations almost. Though not a natural Mary Berry, I am occasionally tempted to step into the bakery arena and have one little recipe that saves the day every time I f...

FoodieOnTour | Food, Family, and a Sprinkling of Fitness: March 2014
http://foodie-ontour.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, 30 March 2014. OxTweatUp at The Oxford Kitchen. Location: 215 Banbury Road, Oxford OX2, UK. When Florio's in Summertown closed down, some were distraught, others were more interested in what it would be replaced by. Initial rumours of a large pizza chain taking over the building led to grumbles about a lack of independent restaurants in Summertown. Eventually though, news broke that the recently refurbished restaurant would be inhabited by The Oxford Kitchen. Dinner began with an amuse-bouche.

125 weeks and 5 days | Camp Bestival 2015 Review - The Twinkle Diaries

125 weeks and 5 days Camp Bestival 2015 Review. So there we are. All the excitement and planning and packing and anticipation has been and gone and my head is. To bursting with memories made at Camp Bestival 2015. It’s the second festival we’ve taken our littles to the first was Shambala last year. And I *think* we can safely say that the apples haven’t fallen very far from the tree, in this instance ;). As did we :). Scenes from Camp Bestival 2015. People there with no kids, Camp Bestival is definitely.

FoodieOnTour | Food, Family, and a Sprinkling of Fitness: February 2015
http://foodie-ontour.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Monday, 23 February 2015. Steamers Aren't a Girl's Best Friend. Location: Oxford, Oxford, UK. It wasn’t that I wasn’t grateful, it was a thoughtful(ish) gift - I do like to cook after all. It was just that small (or rather large, in this case) kitchen appliances are not gifts - they are simply kitchen appliances. Functional. What became of the giant steamer? I used it once, then it was packed up never to see light of day again. Having recently read an article about a new butter mill. Steamers - less of a...

My year of thrift. A blog about money-saving, parenting, crafting, baking and anything else I can think of. Colonsay hotspots this summer. August 4, 2015. August 4, 2015. We’re spending two weeks on Colonsay in the Inner Hebrides this summer and the weather hasn’t been great. My brand new bottle of factor 50 remains full and we’ve watched all five of our Barbie DVDs but hey-ho we’ve still had fun. A link to one if not. Cable Bay and the Paps of Jura. This beach is a long walk. You have to leave your ...

FoodieOnTour | Food, Family, and a Sprinkling of Fitness: May 2014
http://foodie-ontour.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 21 May 2014. Location: Cuddington, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire HP18, UK. So what was the reason for this escape from my usual chaos of nappies and play groups? A cookery class at CiCi-CoCo Cookery School. To which I had kindly been invited by Giuliana - the lady behind CiCi-CoCo and its wonderful lasagne! About food, eaten well and added a few extra dishes to my personal repertoire - not a bad way to spend a morning! Here's a list of CiCi-CoCo's upcoming classes (do check the website. A series ...

FoodieOnTour | Food, Family, and a Sprinkling of Fitness: ABOUT ME
http://foodie-ontour.blogspot.com/p/having-lived-in-oxfordshire-for-over.html
I love food, I love family, and I quite like fitness. I've been writing as FoodieOnTour since 2013, after spending a year mini-reviewing local restaurants on Twitter. I now co-run Bitten Oxford. An online food and drink guide, Bitten Street. A monthly street food market, and Oxford Food and Drink Festival. I've written freelance articles for Olive Magazine, Vale Life Magazine and Ocelot Magazine. It seems I like being busy almost as much as I like food. Sometimes I'm invited to launch events or menu tast...
