Minnsconsin Fly Fishing: Old Fish (Part 3) The Legendary Rainbow

http://www.minnsconsinflyfishing.blogspot.com/2011/07/old-fish-part-3-legendary-rainbow.html

Fly Fishing The Mostly Forgotten Rivers of Minnesota and Wisconsin. And, a little of the beer and music enjoyed along the way. Tuesday, July 19, 2011. Old Fish (Part 3) The Legendary Rainbow. This took a little work to get right. A 25' rainbow from Trout Lake in Yellowstone National Park. I fished this lake for years and caught nothing but fat, 16-20' cutthroats- nothing wrong with that, but I had heard about these rainbows. These huge, fat, scud-slurping lake-bows. But, the rainbows? Old Fish (Part 3) T...

I was reading my John Muir last night and here is what he said:. Fly Fishing The Mostly Forgotten Rivers of Minnesota and Wisconsin. And, a little of the beer and music enjoyed along the way. Tuesday, May 29, 2007. A Little Something About Fish. Finally, I got out away from the city and made it into rural Wisconsin for my favorite fish, the brook trout. With a tip from a trout fishing colleague my dad and I headed to a gorgeous little stream about sixty miles west of the Twin Cities. It was one after another all day, both days. Gold finch, indigo bunting, Baltimore.

Fly Fishing The Mostly Forgotten Rivers of Minnesota and Wisconsin. And, a little of the beer and music enjoyed along the way. Tuesday, June 23, 2009. I got chased out by unbelievably harsh black flies, horse flies, and skeeters. Though the bass above would have no trouble with him. Monday, June 22, 2009. Fly Rod Smallmouth 101. The first rule of fly fishing for smallmouth. Pool like trout do either- especially browns. Observe how the guy next door. Is built: he's not terribly sleek and hydrodynamic.

Minnesota Steelheader: 2015 Creel Project - FINAL

http://minnesotasteelheader.blogspot.com/2015/06/2015-creel-project-final.html

Friday, June 26, 2015. 2015 Creel Project - FINAL. One of the other big questions we are trying to answer with the Creel Project is, "Is there a "Normal", "Standard" or "Typical" run picture? In other words, what if anything, is common to the runs across the North Shore with respect to steelhead, and what does that look like? That picture is beginning to resolve itself in a big way; but the key has been figuring out whether there is a common denominator and how to apply it. From there we dug into all of ...

Minnesota Steelheader: Current State of the Steelhead Union

http://minnesotasteelheader.blogspot.com/2015/03/current-state-of-steelhead-union.html

Monday, March 30, 2015. Current State of the Steelhead Union. In a word, Ice. I took a whirlwind spin with a fishing buddy down the Lower-Shore from Two Harbors to points south, and the story right now is ice and ice cover. Here's a picture looking both upstream towards the new Knife River trap, and downstream from the same vantage point:. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Click image to purchase. Minnesota Steelheader: April Showers, We Need 'Em!

http://minnesotasteelheader.blogspot.com/2015/04/april-showers-we-need-em.html

Saturday, April 11, 2015. April Showers, We Need 'Em! As of April 11th, 2015, Stream conditions are making life difficult for both man and beast, er. steelhead. Lower Shore rivers are running low, clear and cold; there is still a fair amount of shelf ice along the sides of the streams. To be sure, there are early fish around, it's just really tough sledding right now unless you are fishing the river-mouths and outflows. Mid and Upper Shore are still trying to thaw out. Minnesota Steelheader: Shore Casting for Winter Kamloops & Steelhead

http://minnesotasteelheader.blogspot.com/2013/04/shore-casting-for-winter-kamloops.html

Wednesday, April 10, 2013. 65279;Shore Casting for Winter Kamloops and Steelhead. For many a Steelheader, spring can NEVER come soon enough. Waiting for the rivers to open and flow can be incredibly frustrating and almost intolerable at times. However for those ambitious, thick-skinned fishermen (and women), there IS another option. An option that can produce some great fish, both trout and salmon, and give us the rush we all chase as Steelheaders as well. Shore casting. 8226; Small swivels. 8226;Popsicl...

Minnesota Steelheader: 2015 Creel Project Update - Upper Shore

http://minnesotasteelheader.blogspot.com/2015/05/2015-creel-project-update-upper-shore.html

Tuesday, May 26, 2015. 2015 Creel Project Update - Upper Shore. Just a quick note: Upper Shore streams are still trending although it's hard to say how long this will last if the temps stay up around that 60°F mark. We also simply don't have enough data-points in the Upper Shore creel to see the more granular interactions between flows and fish at this time; just a friendly reminder that if you happen to get out, please send us your reports. And Thanks! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Women on the Fly.

Minnesota Steelheader: Time's a Wastin'!

http://minnesotasteelheader.blogspot.com/2011/03/times-wastin_06.html

Sunday, March 06, 2011. Well everyone, in case you haven't noticed, it's MARCH! Which means that steelheading is just around the corner, even if it seems like the snow will never end. If you haven't already, it's time to get your gear together, patch those waders, finish tying flies or spawn, and quit dreamin' about seeing that first enormous square, spotted tail distorted by a boil the size of a garbage-can lid. Are away serving our country in the military; you can make a big difference in their lives.

Minnesota Steelheader: Healing through fly fishing

http://minnesotasteelheader.blogspot.com/2015/02/healing-through-fly-fishing.html

Friday, February 06, 2015. Healing through fly fishing. US Navy veteran Chad Brown deals with his PTSD through fly-fishing. Now he's bringing the art of fly-fishing to urban youth who lack access to nature and have their own issues to deal with. Some anglers are territorial, believing the river belongs to themselves and maybe just a buddy are two. Others recognize the healing powers of the great outdoors and see the river as an opportunity to selflessly share with others. Which are you? Women on the Fly.

Minnesota Steelheader: 2015 Creel Project Update

http://minnesotasteelheader.blogspot.com/2015/05/2015-creel-project-update.html

Wednesday, May 06, 2015. 2015 Creel Project Update. A huge thank you to all of YOU! Response to the creel project has been tremendous this year, and we can't do it without your help. We are getting very good data and have already noted some interesting items:. The run, while we are seeing the more or less orderly progression of start dates from south to north, kicked off roughly only two days apart for each region. This is a bit unusual, particularly for the Upper Shore. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Minnesota Steelheader: Fish on!

http://minnesotasteelheader.blogspot.com/2015/04/fish-on.html

Thursday, April 16, 2015. A couple of us hit the lower shore rivers yesterday dispite the low water. It was just to nice of a day to miss out on some fresh air and running water. Though the water is low, the rain earlier this week pushed fish into the rivers. We managed to hook more than we landed, but those landed were a wonderful sight. We were seeing, and catching, both kamloops and steelhead. People often ask us " will this weekend be a good time to fish? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Which mea...

Hemma, i fas. Jovisst, man saknar Sälen.
