MIXED MEDIA: June 2014

http://mixedmedia-jem.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Working in a Series. Friday, 20 June 2014. Thank you for all your comments on my sunprinting post yesterday. I hope some of you do decide to have a go next time the sun shines. I've now photographed the ones that got away and they are below. These pieces were concertina folded in the cat litter tray. The dark stripes came from a dark blue that I applied quite thickly. It didn't move a great deal. The piece above is the front. Above is the reverse. Thursday, 19 June 2014. I diluted the paints very slightl...

MIXED MEDIA: August 2015

http://mixedmedia-jem.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html

Working in a Series. Monday, 10 August 2015. Last week I spent 3 busy days in Birmingham at the Festival of Quilts. As ever it was a really enjoyable time spent walking miles (exhausting! Meeting lots of friends from far and near (lovely) and viewing all the beautiful quilts and artwork on show (inspiring and tiring). Unsurprisingly there was some shopping too. So what did I see? Lots of photos following. My very dear friend Carolyn Saxby. Annabel Rainbow was on her Through Our Hands. There was a huge am...

MIXED MEDIA: December 2014

http://mixedmedia-jem.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

Working in a Series. Wednesday, 31 December 2014. Well, here we are again, another new year approaching and thank goodness we are here again. It's been a busy old year and the new year looks pretty hectic potentially too. Well, you wouldn't expect it to be any different, would you? I can think of at least three exhibitions that I have to produce work for including work inspired by David Hockney. We've already had a visit to Saltaire to garner inspiration at Saltsmill. Monday, 29 December 2014. My memory ...

MIXED MEDIA: Woolfest

http://mixedmedia-jem.blogspot.com/2015/07/woolfest.html

Working in a Series. Saturday, 25 July 2015. I have a lot of catching up to do again as most of my time has been taken up with working on my quilt for Festival of Quilts. More of that in a future post. What I havn't had time to talk about is our trip to Cumbria at the end of June to go to Woolfest. I've seen adverts for Woolfest for several years but never managed to go so this year we decided to make the effort. If you click on the photo above you can see the name of these very cuddly sheep. Flora of th...

Calamity Jane: December 2013

http://pam-calamityjane.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html

Friday, 13 December 2013. A wonderful weekend at Debden House in Loughton again for Anne Stacey's quilting Christmas weekend. We had a really great time and did lots of chatting laughing, too much food and all in all a good time was had by one and all. Hilary wanted to finish putting her Bathing Belles together that she had started with Anne earlier in the year and then she got into the festive mood and made this log cabin table topper - it looks lovely and she is busy quilting it. The weather was lovely...

Calamity Jane: June 2013

http://pam-calamityjane.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html

Saturday, 22 June 2013. A busy week leading up to our All Nighter. Well it has been a lovely week, it has flown by as they always do. Today is Barbarba's Birthday and I made her this bag and a little bag to match. I have been enjoying making these bags as you will have seen from previous posts. The fabric is lovely and the bag just made in two colours came out really well. it has four pockets inside, as well as the outside pockets. Tuesday, 18 June 2013. We met with a group of friends "Table 6" we all me...

threadnoodle: December 2014

http://threadnoodle.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

Playing with food, fabric and thread. Thursday, 11 December 2014. For the love of sprouts. A bit of a bonus blog today! Not the ultimate flapjack, more the ultimate sprout. I'm on a mission to convert all sprout-haters with this dish, which we've enjoyed (hugely) for lunch this week. It's so good, we had it twice! 1 Get over-excited in the vegetable aisle and grab a very large bag of Brussels sprouts. I had 750g here, and that fed two of us twice - serves four, indeed! 3 While the pancetta and onion are ...

threadnoodle: September 2014

http://threadnoodle.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

Playing with food, fabric and thread. Tuesday, 30 September 2014. Teaching Tuesday - owls, butterflies and teapots. Goodness, where does the time go. Right. No messing about. We've practiced our free machining, and now we're ready to stitch something slightly more interesting than wiggly lines. How about a bit of applique? You get a sheet of Bondaweb. To throw away.only me? Make sure you overlap the pieces, you don't want gluey stuff getting onto your iron. I think this is Libby's piece:. Cut it out,.

threadnoodle: March 2015

http://threadnoodle.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Playing with food, fabric and thread. Friday, 20 March 2015. I've been so unbelievably slack with posting pictures of the amazing work happening in class, so now I'm going to have to pay for it with a massive post to show what we've been doing! First, way back in January, we indulged in my favourite stitchy exercise - strips of texture, sari silks and wot-not. These were then embellished with metal bits and pieces, in the following weeks, as we got more confident stitching on metal:. You can also stitch ...

threadnoodle: Ready-made projects

http://threadnoodle.blogspot.com/2015/04/ready-made-projects.html

Playing with food, fabric and thread. Friday, 24 April 2015. A while back a group of us planned a biggy "proper" exhibition, in a gallery and everything, and I started a series of work based on one of my husband's poems. Well then the others got cold feet, so we cancelled and my work was put in a box file and shelved. Fast forward and I actually have three exhibitions coming up this year, with an urgent need for new work! Sketchbook pages ready to be stitched and bound. Painted papers for collaging ideas.

Saturday, 5 April 2014. Well we are in total chaos at home! We have had all new Windows and doors fitted and they look absolutely superb. Now we are having a new kitchen!
