Mom in Madison: July 2011

http://mominmadison.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html

Tuesday, July 26, 2011. There are a few museums that we visit once or twice and the boys have it down and just are not interested in visiting again. And then there are a few museums that they find endlessly interesting no matter how many times we go. As they get older they read more of the displays, do more of the activities, and spend more time just digging into the details. The science museum in Milwaukee. Is like that for them - and they always want to go again every few months. Repeat turns on the be...

Mom in Madison: March 2011

http://mominmadison.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Wednesday, March 30, 2011. March has been a rough month for my guys - sleet, snow, rain, unusually cold temperatures, clouds. And while the past few days have been sunny (yay) it has still been really COLD. Much colder than it should be this time of year. So when spring fever hits and it is too cold what do you do? We pulled a futon out into the living room and the boys have been doing rolls, flips, handsprings and karate rolls all week. Lots of fun, and very happy energetic boys! Links to this post.

Mom in Madison: August 2011

http://mominmadison.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html

Sunday, August 28, 2011. Oh glorious Sunday. A day of not too hot, not too humid, blue skies, sunny and breezy. Just perfect to spend just about every moment outside. We started off with an early morning park visit for swinging and spinning and being silly. And then of course playing with neighbor friends in the yard/alley. And then a nice walk at the botanical garden to see . everything. Fountains and reflections and water bugs. And pom pom flowers bigger than a kids head. ;). Ice and good cheese. The b...

Mom in Madison: April 2011

http://mominmadison.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html

Thursday, April 28, 2011. The weather outside has been frightful! We have been cozy inside, busily crafting and making, drinking warm lemonade, baking things. Trying to keep warm and energize ourselves even in the face of dark wet days and freezing temps. I also have many trays of things I started which I usually direct sow but with the temps am holding off on (I tried some things, but no germination). If I get a few weeks inside I can have a head start when it finally warms up! Trays of herbs are growin...

Mom in Madison: Butter.

http://mominmadison.blogspot.com/2008/03/butter.html

Tuesday, March 25, 2008. A few times a year, usually in the spring, we make butter. It is a fun project for the boys as they love to shake those marbles in the jar as well as see the results of their efforts! We used about 2 cups of cream from our 'cream on top' milk (or use store bought heavy cream). The cream went into a canning jar along with 3 marbles. Tighten lid. Then shake, shake, shake! And shake, shake, shake. Take a break. Don't stop until that butter separates! You're the best Denise! We must ...

Wild Dandelions: Art 101

http://lydiaslifeofserendipity.blogspot.com/2009/11/art-101.html

Thursday, November 19, 2009. I love art museums (ok.museums, in general)! So, it really drives me crazy to hear homeschoolers (not unschoolers, mind you) talking about trying to fulfill an art "requirement! This should not be a task at all, as I see it. It is FUN to visit art museums and to create artwork at home. And, we are so fortunate to live near a really wonderful, small art museum. The Brandywine River Museum. Another beautiful view of the river, with a railroad trestle in the distance. Subscribe ...

Wild Dandelions: March 2009

http://lydiaslifeofserendipity.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, March 31, 2009. I have missed this. It has been so long since I've written on my blog.  I really haven't felt like it.  Lots of little illnesses, nothing serious thank goodness, but difficult just the same.  Well, I'm back and loving it! What fun to document our day with photographs and words.  And, I am grateful for this day. A morning hug from Ben, still warm from his bed and smelling of sweet sleep. A relaxing morning to stay in pjs and snuggle on the sofa. Mancala, and bread kneading. You ar...

Onapona's ramblings. | Living one day at a time – enjoying one moment at a time.

Living one day at a time – enjoying one moment at a time. Recipe: Swiss chard pasta sauce. This is a variation on a delicious and simple Spanish dish. It tastes best with fresh tomatoes, but if you can’t find any good onces you can also use canned tomatoes. It tastes really like summer, and even my son, who is not really fond of swiss chard, liked it. I’m lucky, I just went outside to my garden to get fresh vegetables. Continue reading →.
