Big Galloot: Photographic Memory
http://biggalloot.blogspot.com/2012/03/photographic-memory.html
Monday, 19 March 2012. The woman in the picture below was 70 years old when it was taken. She still worked and walked 7 or 8 miles a day, every day, whatever the weather. She'd travelled over 50 miles (2 buses) to arrive at the appointed place and time, dressed for the occasion. That was 3 and a half years ago. Now she has no memory of that day or indeed many other days. Almost every scrap of her independence is gone. Alzheimer's is a proper cunt of a disease. 19 March 2012 at 21:18. Thanks lads. Ive...

Big Galloot: August 2010
http://biggalloot.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, 14 August 2010. Well, they weren't really excuses, more like stuff that I knew was coming and would have to dedicate time to. In all honesty, I'm the King of Procrastination, I don't actually need. An excuse. And the motivation to get out on the hills wasn't really there although I did at least get some. Outdoorsy stuff done, just nothing worth writing home about. So we had the wedding and, as stated previously, we couldn't have asked for a better day. Just marvellous. The last thing that was s...

Big Galloot: December 2010
http://biggalloot.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Friday, 31 December 2010. It's been a quick year. Highlight was getting married to my beautiful Mrs, closely followed by the birth of our beautiful grandson. Very little outdoor stuff happened. Quietest year in the last decade, in fact. Two or three bits of kit bought and a whole lot more sold on. I've little or no interest in such things right now but that may well change in the coming year. We'll see. But this year is nearly done and there's a new one waiting just over the horizon. Blog on the landscape.

Big Galloot: July 2012
http://biggalloot.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 18 July 2012. Here comes the summer. Summer in Scotland. It's a bit shite, really. And totally rubbish when it comes to walking up hills and such-like. It's either too hot, too wet or somewhere in between. And then there's the midgies. And the ticks.Thinking back, I never did very much between May and September. I like it so this'll be me until September. Is another of Sean's. Custom inners for the Hex; something lighter than the original Oooknest and with a bit more mesh. Blog on the landscape.

Big Galloot: June 2011

Sunday, 12 June 2011. The Gods of Fortune and Favour have smiled upon both Al and Phil. Gentlemen, I have a pair of Grimlocs here with your names on them. If you send your contact details to *redacted*. They will be dispatched post haste. You'll never lose your hat/gloves/enamel mug again. Monday, 6 June 2011. It's not often that I'm at the forefront of something new and exciting but there's a first time for everything. I'm no' 100% certain that I was the first. Customer but there's no doubt in my mind t...

Big Galloot: March 2012
http://biggalloot.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 27 March 2012. The Horses Mares Tail. A long weekend in Lochaber saw us in a variety of picturesque places and at least two well-known eateries, surrounded by mountains and lochans and stuff. Of course, the weather helped; 19C or thereabouts and just a tad unseasonal, given that we're still in March. Still, as I always say, Scotland in the sunshine is a sight to behold. Speaking of which; Me? In one of the most famous mountain locations in the Universe? Too much sun, that's what it was :o).

Big Galloot: Planning Application: FAIL
http://biggalloot.blogspot.com/2012/03/planning-application-fail.html
Saturday, 24 March 2012. Fife Council continue to show an admirable degree of common sense. It's a small victory but a victory nonetheless. Fingers crossed they dont go to appeal. On recent evidence, the Reporter would find in favour of the applicant. As you know, weve been through this already once with Scottish Power back in 2004. They got rejected and yet they went to appeal, only to withdraw at the last moment. Were hoping this time it will be it and they wont ever try again on Clatto. The opinions e...

Saturday, 23 June 2012. A Big Yellow Vest. By far the best solution that I've found is to turn the fruit into cake. The recipe below was shamelessly nicked from Andi Peters, former childrens' TV presenter and a bit of a whizz in the kitchen. All credit goes to him, beautiful man that he is :o). Plus extra for greasing. Light soft brown sugar. 1 Preheat the oven to 180C/gas 4 (160C/gas 3 for fan-forced ovens). Grease a 1kg-capacity loaf tin and line the base with baking parchment. JC Seal of Approval.
