The Annual Mount Maunganui Sports Club 7s Tournament is on Saturday, 17th October 2015. If you are interested in entering our tournament in 2014 please email info@mountsports.co.nz for registration form. This tournament is recognised as one of the North Island’s premier club 7s events with teams traveling from Wellington, Auckland, North Harbour and Waikato as well as within the Bay of Plenty. In 1923 a group of young men living in Mount Maunganui got together to form the Mount Maunganui Rugby Club. Mostly employed at the P.W.D Workshops where the East Coast railway line was being fabricated. This was the birth of what is now the Mount Maunganui Sports Club which caters for rugby (21 teams), netball (6 teams) and squash (210 players) as well as organising local touch rugby (46 teams). At Mount Sports Netball we provide a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. We offer a variety of Teams from Premier Divisions to Social Divisions. Netball is played on a Wednesday Nights (Premier Reserve and Social Divisions) and Thursday Nights (Premier Divisions). Teams train on Monday and Tuesday Nights. Trainings and Wednesday Night games are at Harbourside Netball Courts at Mount Maunganui and Thursday Night Games are played at the TECT Arena in Mount Maunganui. Office: 07 575 4941. Our Senior A team won both the Western Bay Championships and Baywide Championships in 2005, 2006 and 2007 and was runner-up in both competitions in 2008. This team was unbeaten for three and a half seasons – going unbeaten in 79 matches.
