Saturday, 19 January 2013. Chat on Twitter leads to hunt for antidote to cold, snowy Britain. So this morning on twitter I follow a link and find that Artesano now does British wool - YAY! And it's a chunky weight in gorgeous dyed colours. Fortunately I have a good selection of woollies to choose from, but I thought it would be fun to have a quick whiz through the Woolsack stockists lists. To specifically look for chunky/bulky weight British wool yarns dyed in bright colours. Texere Yarns Chunky Wool.

Wednesday, 5 December 2012. The Boreray Project part 4 - The day that became known as the Pooh Party. The task - to sort through a mountain of Boreray fleece and separate out the fibre which could be sent to Natural Fibre Company. The challenge - to do this in less than a week. How wrong I was! But then we found the felted bits of fleece, the 'rough as a badger's arse' kempy, hairy britch bits, the thistles, grass, hay. and the pooh. We had a lot of fleece to get through. Here's a small. Now it's really ...

Monday, 19 January 2015. Looking Forward - changes to the Woolsack website. I can now sit at the laptop without 'that list' looming over me. When people contact me about their British wool products then they get onto the website much quicker - I'm getting into a good routine now of a weekly session of updating, which gives a good balance between speed of responding to email requests and the most efficient use of my time. There are also a couple of new pages - the Events page. British wool product. Th...

Rheged knit and stitch | Smallholding in Suburbia

https://willofibres.wordpress.com/2015/04/16/rheged-knit-and-stitch/comment-page-1

Life growing veg, selling exotic fibre, hand dyed wool and anything else that happens. Rheged knit and stitch. On Sunday we had an early morning trip along the A66 to Penrith to attend Rheged’s knit and stitch show. We did this show in September last year and had a great time. This is our stall with a great view behind. We’d opted for a double stall this time and I’m very glad we did. Sales were a little slow to start with, but then they ticked over very nicely for the rest of the day. On Linden and Kyros.

Life growing veg, selling exotic fibre, hand dyed wool and anything else that happens. Monthly Archives: May 2015. Needle Felting and Solar Dyeing. Last Saturday I went over to Otley to the Wharfdale Wool event, this time as a visitor to attend a needle felting course, it was only 2 hours long, but this is what I managed to make. A thin grey seal, it was great fun and I will probably have a go again, but I don’t think it will become my number 1 hobby any time soon. Thursday night was spent with friends a...

Life growing veg, selling exotic fibre, hand dyed wool and anything else that happens. Working on the veg plot. Last week I’ve been able to spend some time working in the veg garden, all the beds are now filled. The early potatoes are coming along nicely, though a spot of rain wouldn’t go amiss at the moment to put some growth on the new potatoes. The Sweetcorn is inter planted with 3 squash plants, as they are supposed to grow well together. Newer posts →. 4 Weekends and 4 shows/events. The first show w...

Life growing veg, selling exotic fibre, hand dyed wool and anything else that happens. Fibre East 2015 with youngest hobbit. Here he is wrapped up warmly, after a Chinese take away, on Joan’s camp bed. But that night when we went to check on youngest hobbit’s tent, it had turned into an indoor swimming pool, so he spent the night sleeping in the back of the van, at least he was warm and dry, if a little cramped. Life growing veg, selling exotic fibre, hand dyed wool and anything else that happens. Well it’s the start of February and I thought I’d give a bit if an update on the veg garden, it’s not looking at it’s best at the moment. Overall I’m quite pleased with the veg garden’s first year considering how little time I was able to spend working on it. Now to start planning on what veg is to go in which bed, and get some manure for two of the big beds. 2015 is rushing on! Spring Cleaning in the Garden →. You are...

About Mrs Woolley's Cakes. Friday, 30 August 2013. It has been long while since I have written much of anything in this blog. Chances are no one is really following it now and merely looks at my photos on Facebook! I am in the mood for writing today so I guess I'm not too worried if anyone reads this or not. About six weeks ago I ran into my old boss pre-kids and she asked me if I wanted a job? I didn't say no.maybe? The thought had never occurred to me and I was doing cakes wasn't I? I had nothing to wo...
