Musings of a Runner Girl

Love the shirt and LOVE the personalized bib! As the days leading up to the marathon on May 5th kept getting warmer and nicer I was starting to get a little worried- and irritated. Seems each time I run a marathon we have unseasonably warm weather! Not much I could do about it though so I just hydrated all week long and made a few tweaks to my race day outfit and was thankful that the race started at 7am (last time it was 9! Our race course. I live less than a mile from several points on this course!

Musings of a Runner Girl: Amica Seattle Half Marathon Recap

http://musingsofarunnergirl.blogspot.com/2012/12/amica-seattle-half-marathon-recap.html

Amica Seattle Half Marathon Recap. I signed up to run the Seattle half marathon last spring when there was a Zozi deal floating around for $39. Too good to pass up right? She was so relieved and happy that I knew I made the right decision to help her get across the finish line and just not worry about my time at all. Seattle Space Needle- pretty fantastic view! Kate, me, Alyssa, Kerrie and Zoe looking all sparkly before the race! We were smashed in and couldn't move any more waiting for the race to start.

View from the Salmon Beach area of the Defiance 30K course. That is the Narrows Bridge in the distance. Well the time has almost arrived- in 15 days I will be tackling my big 30K trail race (race details HERE. This is the course. I mapped it out and carried one with me in. My pocket during my run. I still got lost. I got lost and off course several times but I think I get the idea- and the race director promised me that the course would be well marked. I started my run here at Owen's Beach. Anyways, it w...

Musings of a Runner Girl: August 2012

http://musingsofarunnergirl.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html

Running at the Beach! My running shoes are introduced to the beach! Last weekend my family took a vacation to Longbeach, WA for 6 days- so of course I had to get some running in while I was there! We rented a small 2 bedroom cabin with a kitchen and back deck about 1/3 of a mile from the beach. I will post some vacation pictures in a day or two, but for now here is how my 2 runs went! This is the direction I was heading- the kites are in the distance. And apparently my thumb is in. Can you believe it?

This was our theme song for the weekend. Play it while you read the post, then maybe you can feel like you were there with us and my ramblings won't seem so crazy! So this blog post has very little to do with running- but if you are interested in how to have an amazing girl weekend that involves a lot of laughing, chatting, walking and consuming of delicious food than look no further! Sarah, Jaime, Kendra and me in our hotel lobby. Oh, and a chocolate dipped macaroon. Better make it 55 miles. We shopped ...

Musings of a Runner Girl: May 2012

http://musingsofarunnergirl.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html

Tacoma City Half Marathon Recap. My self portrait at 6am- ready to run! After I put some shoes on of course. Please ignore the large bags under my eyes! Probably because I was too busy trying to decide if my legs were going to actually cooperate and run 13.1 miles two days in a row! I grabbed a banana, my gels and headphones and off I went, leaving around 6:30am or so. The starting area, quite peaceful still! Look who decided to behave for this race! Waiting for the starting gun. The first few miles of t...

Team Johnson: Hospital - Feb 3

http://the-johnson-team.blogspot.com/2013/02/hospital-feb-3.html

Sunday, February 3, 2013. Hospital - Feb 3. I wish they'd told me that RSV can be extremely dangerous in little ones. But they didn't. So I went home thinking we'd just have a quiet day on the couch. That was all I needed to hear. My mom and I packed everyone up, dropped Owen off at my dad's, and headed to Good Sam. They bumped us to the front (great thing about having a little one! Team Johnson: Happy New Year

http://the-johnson-team.blogspot.com/2013/01/happy-new-year.html

Friday, January 4, 2013. New Years Eve isn't really the most exciting these days. Husband works, wife stays home with kids. Honestly, I don't even mind. I'd rather have us safe at home instead of dodging drunks on the road. Chris called at midnight and we had a typical cop family conversation. Chris: Hi, I thought I'd call and wish you a Happy New Year. T, I gotta back someone on a call. I'll call you later. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Simple template. Team Johnson: Christmas Tree(s)

http://the-johnson-team.blogspot.com/2012/12/christmas-trees.html

Sunday, December 30, 2012. I don't really know why, but this year I decided that we needed three Christmas trees. One for the entryway, one for the boys' play room, and our main tree in the living room. The boys did the bulk of the work on the first two trees, which we put up around Thanksgiving, and I'll say this honestly: those two little worker bees did a very nice job. Next year I think I will put up a fourth tree, upstairs in the front window. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

http://the-johnson-team.blogspot.com/2013/02/hospital-feb-6.html

Wednesday, February 6, 2013. Hospital - Feb 6. Ready for 24-48 hours. It may show if the doctors are missing anything. His fever is still present and his breathing continues to be labored. He's been on oxygen all day and his pulse was in the 110s when I arrived an hour ago. It's a little higher now since he's playing with his new blocks (gift from the nurse! Team Johnson: Mt Rainier, Abbreviated

http://the-johnson-team.blogspot.com/2013/01/mt-rainier-abbreviated.html

Sunday, January 20, 2013. Mt Rainier, Abbreviated. We made a very short trip to Rainier. The shortest ever. I needed to pick up an annual park pass for my sister's birthday and the weather had been keeping us away. We finally had a chance to head up, but we didn't have much time! We picked up the pass at the entrance, and drove up to Longmire for some snow play and a short hike. The boys had a blast. We sped home and made it to my mom's just in time to celebrate Laura's birthday!

http://the-johnson-team.blogspot.com/2013/02/hospital-feb-4.html

Monday, February 4, 2013. Hospital - Feb 4. Morning update: Fuzzy picture from a couple hours ago. More breathing treatment for Logan. Fever is up and down and pulse is still very high (180-200). He finally drank a little milk and used the potty! They just brought the tiniest wheelchair in to his room and he will head out soon for a chest X-ray (looking for pneumonia). So tonight's goal is rest. Tomorrow's goal is drinking on his own. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

http://the-johnson-team.blogspot.com/2012/12/selah.html

Saturday, December 29, 2012. The boys picked up my mom and sister and we headed over to my grandparents' house for a couple of days. The roads were great and there were a few inches of snow on the ground when we arrived. A white Christmas is always nice, even if it's a day or two late. We had a nice family dinner with Grandma and Grandpa, Sandra, Hal, Matt and his girlfriend Ruth, Christina, and Don. Owen and Logan were thrilled to see Cousin Don again! He's lots of fun. I'd been trying to teach him to s...

Team Johnson: Sledding at Rainier

http://the-johnson-team.blogspot.com/2013/01/sledding-at-rainier.html

Saturday, January 26, 2013. We headed up to the most scenic place in the state to go sledding: Paradise at Mt Rainier. It's a great place to sled. They keep the area groomed, and during the week it's empty. There was one other family of four, so we practically had the mountain to ourselves. Although there is a drawback to that. less people means the runs haven't been packed down, so it can be a little slow to get going. But that's probably best with little kids. Team Johnson: Christmas Day

http://the-johnson-team.blogspot.com/2012/12/christmas-day.html

Thursday, December 27, 2012. Despite being asked to wait until everyone was awake before venturing downstairs, Owen went down anyway. I was laying in bed when I heard my poor child cry "Santa didn't come to our house! I told him to come back upstairs with the rest of us. He was so upset. I asked him why he thought Santa didn't come, and he said "Because my stocking was gone! I hung it by the fireplace last night and it's not there! The stockings are gone! Later that afternoon, we went to my mom's house&#...

Team Johnson: Hospital - Feb 5

http://the-johnson-team.blogspot.com/2013/02/hospital-feb-5.html

Tuesday, February 5, 2013. Hospital - Feb 5. Night #2 was rough. Logan started coughing around 11pm and hasn't stopped, so we're both pretty exhausted. His pulse had gone down into the 120s overnight but is back in the 160s now. Breathing is still labored and he received 2 more albuterol treatments. He's on oxygen now. Temp went up and down a little bit but 102 seems to be his magic number. Logan asked for milk overnight. He had a few sips. But threw up a little while later :(.

Musings of a Rhythm Junkie

Musings of a Rhythm Junkie. Thursday, July 28, 2011. I want to see ruins. Not just abandoned houses,. Siding peeling in places,. Doors off hinges,. Although there is a certain hollowness there. I want to see actual ruins,. Stone thousands of years old,. Ivy and grass and weeds plunging out of every surface. Consuming the once proud architecture. I want to see towers crumbling. And imagine their past. Their height and strength and majesty. I want to feel the dust of ages in my palm. With a fleeting glance,.

Musings of a runner. Thursday, 14 November 2013. Lakeland 100 recce – Coniston to Buttermere – Sunday 10th November 2013. I thought I’d get all the expensive purchases out of the way in one go and boy was it an expensive trip to The Endurance Store, but I’ve been really happy with my purchases in the lead up to the recce and on the day itself. I also bought some new Oakley sports glasses, which were as expensive as all 3 of the above items combined! So what about actual running? The night before the recce.
