On 1 October, I return to university for the first time in 20 years. I will be studying for a Psychology degree, part-time. I am super excited about learning and cannot wait to start. On the other hand, I am nervous of being old enough to be the mother of your average student, doing well and fitting it into our life.

I first came across crochet snowflakes last Christmas and it was love at first sight. I searched for patterns but couldn't find exactly what I was after, so I decided they were the perfect opportunity to stop chatting about designing, and start designing! I've now made ten snowflake designs so far and I will be sharing them with you as I check, tweak and write up the patterns.

It's a great way to learn hand sewing techniques and meet new people. There's a mixed age range of people attending. Great conversation too. Children must be accompanied by an adult. I had a wonderful weekend visiting the Lindsey Patchworkers 3rd Exhibition in the Lincolnshire Wolds - Ludford - The Quilts were amazing, you could see how much work had gone into them. There were so many different designs and use of colours, truly inspiring. I just wish I'd taken more photos. Margaret with her hexagon quilt. It has fabric from her Mum's dresses. What a lovely family heirloom -. A selection of quilts displayed -.
