Cerco l'equilibrio in tutto quello che faccio. Quando lo trovo cerco di mantenerlo. Se lo perdo ricomincio daccapo. Giovedì, giugno 29, 2006. Cat-Ketch - La barca del solitario. Nonsuch30: August 2010
http://nonsuch30.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, August 8, 2010. I was lucky to find a piece of Afromosia that was 15 inches wide allowing the table to be cut as a single piece. For now, no fiddles will be added. That may change later depending on how much junk gets dumped on the floor. Saturday, August 7, 2010. One of the first projects completed on SummerPlace was a small cockpit table. That could be used while underway. One of the last projects was an extension leaf that allows 2 people to sit at a cockpit dinner table. There's adequate coun...

Nonsuch30: April 2010
http://nonsuch30.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Friday, April 30, 2010. Swim Platform (Dinghy Davits). Like most projects, if I were to do it again, there are a few minor things I'd do differently but I consider this effort to be a success. Now on to some new projects. Update: 5/30: Started installation yesterday. Progress is slow because of the steady rain. Should wrap up initial work tomorrow followed by disassembly and bedding of the hardware. Taking plenty of time to be sure everything is properly aligned before drilling the holes. Update: 5/19 - ...

Nonsuch30: December 2011
http://nonsuch30.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 16, 2011. The galley on SummerPlace had meager storage space for pots, pans, knives, etc. The microwave was 13 years old and very low powered, and the stove was mounted very low to accommodate some useless gimbals. This project added two drawers, a new microwave, and eliminated the gimbals to allow efficient use of all available space. The drawer faces are cut from Iroko hardwood giving a good match of color and grain to the existing teak interior surfaces. Wednesday, December 14, 2011.

Nonsuch30: New Batteries
http://nonsuch30.blogspot.com/2012/03/new-batteries.html
Wednesday, March 7, 2012. SummerPlace came to us in 2009 with four group 27 wet cell batteries, their history unknown. Last year, they didn't perform very well. After an overnight at anchor, the bank couldn't deliver enough power to brew a pot of coffee using the inverter. The inverter shut down due to low voltage. The decision was made to replace the batteries this spring. Today, I drove over to the East Penn office in Portland and picked up four of the Dekas. While at the will-call door I smiled se...

Nonsuch30: March 2012
http://nonsuch30.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, March 27, 2012. A flat, narrow box was constructed from plywood. Hinged at the bottom and mounted in the port cockpit locker, the box tips out for loading the boards and then folds up and out of the way for storage. A divider built into the box, keeps the boards from banging into each other. The outside dimensions are 25w x 22h x 2.75d. The setup is secure, quick and easy to use, and will likely replace the bed pillows if it ever stops raining long enough to actually go sailing. I finally decide...

Nonsuch30: Winch Upgrade
http://nonsuch30.blogspot.com/2012/03/winch-upgrade.html
Saturday, March 3, 2012. I decided a foot switch on the floor was the way to go and bought a waterproof one on Ebay for 20 bucks. Its the kind used for electric trolling motors. As I dug into the matter, I realized that the winch draws about 50 amps and uses 4 gauge wire to the battery with no solenoid. The entire 50 amps is running through the switch meaning the 2 ounce foot switch is going to have two 4 gauge wires running to it. Not good. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Nonsuch 30 - Bianka.

Nonsuch30: July 2010
http://nonsuch30.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, July 25, 2010. I took my iPad on a recent cruise to Jarrell Cove. I snapped some photos of intersting boats (including SummerPlace of course! And drew sketches from them on the iPad. Its an enjoyable activity for a cruise and a good way to strike up conversation with the other boaters. Click on the thumbnails above to see the full-size image on Flickr. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
