He will be spending the night in the Recovery Room and hopefully will be moved tomorrow. It has been a very long day for us all but we are so grateful that it is over. Norman M. Block. Another one of life's adventures, just not so much fun. Wednesday, May 11, 2011. My recovery has been great. The surgeon was quite impressed at how effective the chemotherapy and radiation treatments were in reducing the cancer. The oncologist puts me at the leading edge of people recovering from this surgery – somewhere in the top 5%. Another one of life's adventures, just not so much fun. Thursday, September 23, 2010. Side effects have been better, although my hair is still thinning. I did get a nifty black Greek fisherman's hat, but it seems to act as a magnet for the falling gray hairs. Still some nausea at times, but well controlled by the medications. (A bit longer than expected due to my world famous doctor having to go to some international meeting prior to that) I was discharged yesterday with a supply of antibiotics, inhalers, and a nebulizer. You may be as puzzled as I that it is happening so soon after discovering the infection, but I have made repeated calls and have been assured that it is not too early. I hope she's right.
