Kananaskis Country Golf Course Turf Care: What do you do in the Winter?
http://kcountryturfcare.blogspot.com/2013/02/what-do-you-do-in-winter.html
End of 2012 season. Wednesday, 27 February 2013. What do you do in the Winter? For the majority of my short illustrious turf career, I’ve worked as a seasonal employee. The first four years worked nicely because I was a student, finishing high school. Then completing post secondary. The next four were also great, as I collected earnings. From the great resource we all know as Employment Insurance. I quickly realized that as my expensive taste in life evolved, my actual income didn’t. I. Courses. From...

End of 2012 season. Friday, 18 January 2013. Welcome to the new year! A time when some of us turf managers anticipate great numbers, wonderful compliments and a perfect wintering of our golf courses? Dinosaur Trail Turf Care: In a Nutshell
http://dinotrailturfcare.blogspot.com/2013/12/in-nutshell.html
Monday, 2 December 2013. 9 green snow cover - Nov 21. 1st cut on greens April 26th 2013. Flooding on the 18th fwy. As far as the golf course, we had our ups and downs. We were lucky to escape any serious flood damage, but the heavy rains and subsequent run off damaged turf, filled in drainage trenches, and caused substantial erosion on the back nine. We repaired as much of the damage as we could "in house" but with little to no money to make repairs, these areas will be problems in the spring.

Kananaskis Country Golf Course Turf Care: Closure
http://kcountryturfcare.blogspot.com/2013/07/closure.html
End of 2012 season. Tuesday, 16 July 2013. This will likely be my last post on the KCountry turcare blog. Looking back to the date of the previous post, it’s clear that we weren't frequently up to date. The easy excuse is to say that we were very busy preparing and maintaining both golf courses to the high standards that many of our guests and our Kananaskis team have come to expect. This was actually the truth. What’s my plan? So I write this final post on the KCountry turfcare’s blog as my ...Welcome to...

Dinosaur Trail Turf Care: March 2014
http://dinotrailturfcare.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, 9 March 2014. Hard to believe it has been over 3 months since I have updated this blog, and a few things have happened since December. In my personal life, Jenn and I got married on January 14. Down in the Mayan Riviera surrounded by 64 of our close family and friends. It was a week we will never forget, our wedding day was perfect, and we felt so lucky to have everyone celebrating with us in a beautiful location. Andrew putting new vinyl guard on the flagsticks. Keith grinding some fairway reels.

Dinosaur Trail Turf Care: First Day of Summer.....Where has the time gone???
http://dinotrailturfcare.blogspot.com/2014/06/first-day-of-summerwhere-has-time-gone.html
Saturday, 21 June 2014. First Day of Summer.Where has the time gone? The course came out of winter in good shape, with virtually no damage to putting greens, and minor snow mold damage to all other playing surfaces. Our tees and fairways continue to recover, but the lack of warm temperatures has definitely slowed down their recovery. We core aerated, overseeded, and topdressed our tee decks last week, with a solid tine aeration on fairways planned for the near future. Turf Care Team Enjoying a Friday BBQ.

Dinosaur Trail Turf Care: August 2012

Monday, 6 August 2012. Boys stripping the sod off of 3 green. What the new sod on 9 looks like. The other night while out handwatering the new sod I had a good conversation with one of our members getting in a quick nine before dark. He quizzed me with afew questions I have heard before, even at my own family gatherings. The first one being "What I plan to do for the winter? And the second " It took you two years of college to learn how to grow grass? Bruce and his hole in one on 12.

Kananaskis Country Golf Course Turf Care: April 2013
http://kcountryturfcare.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
End of 2012 season. Sunday, 21 April 2013. Early last weekend we were welcomed with four days of fresh snow. Both properties were again completely covered in about 30cm. Most of the fresh didn't melt off until mid week and our crews were out again clearing greens so that we could peel back tarps. At times, weather can be frustrating, however it's a part of our seasons and our location. We continue to stay focused and motivated in our accomplishments. Let's have a great season.
