Pirate Living History 1680-1725. There is a lot of information on Pirate Weapons, and to keep from having this site be to "Unwieldy", I have broken it into several sections. Everything Else is on This Page. So those of you just joining us, we send out a hearty AHOY! As "piracy" is a big tent and all are welcome to come in and join us. Probably the best way to go would be to ask the members of the group you are joining what they use for weapons. They may have a recommendation based on aesthetics, func...

McNabb's Station: Back at it...
http://mcnabbsstation.blogspot.com/2014/06/back-at-it.html
Carpentry, joinery, and gunmaking in the Tennessee back country. Wednesday, June 18, 2014. I am going to get back in the traces after a long dry spell engaged with personal affairs. I have several rifles in the works and have started taking a couple of orders, so I feel like I am becoming my old self again. By 12:30 I had the entire channel chiseled out and was planing it out with m 3/4" round bottom plane. I also have a 5/8" plane I use for smaller barrels. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

I try to keep fluff to a minimum on this blog, but we must digress occasionally. McNabb's Station: March 2011
http://mcnabbsstation.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Carpentry, joinery, and gunmaking in the Tennessee back country. Sunday, March 27, 2011. I was able to make the central panel work by instead slightly reducing the two short end pieces of the frame, by about 1/4". This entailed a good bit of work on the ends, which recieve the male aspects of the tongue and groove frame joinery, but less work than cutting out and planing and grooving a whole new central panel. The lid still fits the chest just fine. Tuesday, March 15, 2011. Roy Underhill is the father of...

McNabb's Station: More toolmaking: unfinished business
http://mcnabbsstation.blogspot.com/2011/04/unfinished-business.html
Carpentry, joinery, and gunmaking in the Tennessee back country. Sunday, April 3, 2011. More toolmaking: unfinished business. I started to make a side escapement plane several years ago, and it sat on the shelf, unfinished. I need a round bottomed plane for hogging out barrel channels. I have a 3/4" plane made by Tod Herrli. So, I decided to make a 5/8" round bottom plane. Now, this is not the same as a "round" moulding plane, but a true 1/2 circle round bottom shape. I used a Lie Nielsen blank plane iro...
