Morning Glory Alley: May 2009

Tuesday, May 26, 2009. End to a Great Weekend - Visit Leo, Kristen and Baby Tyler. On the way home from Rochester we made a stop in Pennsylvania. Tyler is as cute as ever and I have to show him off. He has begun solid food now and likes his peas! Leo is recuperating very well from last Friday's surgery. We ate a delicious pork dinner from the grill, enjoyed playing with Tyler and relaxing on their porch in the quiet country. The weather for the weekend was beautiful. It was a great party! We were so busy...

Morning Glory Alley: Leo J. Tanghe - 101st Birthday
http://morninggloryalley.blogspot.com/2010/02/leo-j-tanghe-101st-birthday.html
Saturday, February 6, 2010. Leo J Tanghe - 101st Birthday. Today in memory of what would have been Dad's 101st birthday I am posting an excerpt from his diary of 2/9/87. Went to Art's to celebrate my birthday. Present were: Andy and Mary Kay, Susan, George, Andrew, Alan, Linda, Mike, Karen, Chris, Linda and Brad. I gave the people a puzzle to solve. With a check for $100 for the first to solve it and call me. Soon everybody was quiet as a mouse, working on it, but nobody got it during the evening.

The Simple and the Ordinary: August 2010
http://simpleordinary.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, August 21, 2010. My excuse for not blogging this week? Vacation - and very spotty internet connection. Plus we were very very busy. So, here's a quick rundown of how the week went. 1 Monday: Bushkill Falls. We hiked the "Red Trail". That's the big one. You can see all the waterfalls, but it takes several hours. We were exhausted when we were done. Well, everyone except my son, so the two of us took a paddle boat for a spin. I don't think my legs will ever forgive me. 2 Tuesday: Dorney Park.

The Simple and the Ordinary: November 2010

Friday, November 19, 2010. A Shakespeare Poem on Friday. No, not a poem by Shakespeare, one about him. You see, my 13-year-old daughter is supposed to be writing a research paper. The topic she chose was about the debate some people go into about who "really" wrote Shakespeare's plays. (For the record she thinks he wrote them, and I agree.). Anyway, while she was supposed to be busily typing up her paper, she got to thinking about Shakespeare's son, Hamnet and this is what she came up with. He picks me up.

The Simple and the Ordinary: The Strike
http://simpleordinary.blogspot.com/2011/05/strike.html
Thursday, May 19, 2011. I belong to a couple of groups on Facebook that are for alumni of the elementary school and middle school I went to. Recently people have been reminiscing and the subject of "The Teacher's Strike" came up and it got me thinking. I also want to make it clear that I have no idea what the contractual dispute was about. I do not know if the teacher's were being reasonable or not. So maybe the teachers were really directing their abuse at the parents? Was their cause right or wrong?

The Simple and the Ordinary: February 2011

Friday, February 25, 2011. Five on a Friday. A few very random thoughts to end the week. 1 I'm really glad that this rain we're having is not snow. I've seen enough snow this winter. 2 I think my six-year-old niece has the makings of the next big pop star. Don't you? 3 I've been busy crocheting for the prayer shawl ministry at my church. Here is one of the shawls I made. 4 My son turned 11 this week. Is that really possible? 5 The roses I got for Valentine's Day still look beautiful! Links to this post.
