I wanted to specifically work with a group of young people to develop a body of work that explored personal narrative while looking at contemporary art photography themes. We discussed the work of many contemporary photographers such as Gregory Crewdson, Amy Stein, Larry Fink, Sam Taylor-Wood, Jeff Wall and Astrid Kruse Jensen. Selected intimate phrases from found love letters sent between a young couple who were separated for a year in 1959 were put onto the walls of an vacant domestic flat. The chosen text from the exchanges was specifically about the ache of missing and imagining being together and use the couples’ original hand writing from the letters. A Sense of Someplace.

Is a publication of photomontages created during artist and photographer Lindsay Perth’s residency with NHS Forth Valley from 2011 until 2013. These montages are the results of a collaboration between the artist and clients of Clackmannanshire Community Healthcare Centre’s Mental Health Resource in Sauchie and members of mental health support organisation Reach Out With Arts in Mind, in Alloa.
