The Parker Family: November 2010
http://mikeandsarahparker.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, November 28, 2010. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Me and a couple of my girlfriends put together an ACE Thanksgiving menu. I thought I'd share a couple of the dishes. I only have recipes for the ones that I made, so I'll just give the titles of the things the others made, and you can google them. I decorated the apartment a little- in my mind's eye it was much grander than it turned out. But I was pretty pleased with the home-made decs. That last one is Mike's Opie-dog-turkey). For sides we had...

Urban curiosity #1: The Roslin Street bimney. Tragically though, in no time at all, those wonders become the norm and so easily ignored on daily commutes and dog walks to the beach. But they're still there and so is that sense of wonder. I just need to dig a little deeper and pay a bit closer attention. And not just look, but document and consider and discuss and debate. Are there treasures hiding in plain sight? Pilot's cap with goggles on? Check Map with X marking the spot? Check Sense of adventure?

The Parker Family: February 2013
http://mikeandsarahparker.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, February 27, 2013. 35-36 weeks- Mom visits, One Month To Go! Here we are at 36 weeks! Mike took the picture so I don't look completely goofy. We just got back from the doctor- got to do a quick ultrasound today to check positioning. The girl is continuing her trend of being completely normal and average. She is head down and progressing normally! The doctor is projecting a 7.5-8 lb baby. That was music to my ears. Then she worked on 2 major Blueberry room projects- the dust ruffle and the chai...

The Parker Family: Baptism
http://mikeandsarahparker.blogspot.com/2013/10/baptism.html
Sunday, October 6, 2013. We had a great weekend last week. Almost our entire family, Mom and Ray, Dad and Jen, Karen and Bob all made a huge effort to be here and celebrate Layla's baptism. To say that we were thankful is an understatement. They made a lot of effort to get here and they were all here to help us start Layla's spiritual life. We ate, drank and everyone loved on Layla. I'm not perfect. What I do isn't perfect. Life isn't perfect. And it doesn't need to be. Justin, stop clutching for coherence; just be yourself and live your fucking life. Almost 2 years since my last post? Unbelievable. Unimaginable. Unamerican? Inspired by a number of consistently excellent bloggers ( 1. Go next. With under four months to go until I get married, it seems opportune to start thinking about where Leigh and I go next in our life together. I would warmly receive any comments on such reflections. I work as behavioural scientist and academic. At a great university. In the field of health psychology. What is health psychology? So that's the new format I propose&...

Sunday, May 30, 2010. The Strength of Culture. As the story goes along, you find out that the crates were brought to the woman farming the mangos by some guy she'd never met. He was white, articulate, drove a car, and just handed out the crates. He made no explanation other than, do this, it'll decrease the bruises. But to this woman, who cares about bruises? There are two quotes that keep running through my head as I write this. 1) 90% of success is just showing up. Mike and Sarah Parker. Soooo in refle...

The Parker Family: June 2010
http://mikeandsarahparker.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, June 29, 2010. So I don't forget. To be fully human, people ought to have as authentic a relationship as possible with others. They should know that in their deepest being they are intrinsically free to reconstruct and transform themselves, and they need to grant others the same powerful freedom. David Spiegel, M.D. Mike and Sarah Parker. Monday, June 14, 2010. This looks really great! I'm back though- I was here the whole time! After putting together a story McGuyver-style (duct tape, potting s...

The Parker Family: Our week
http://mikeandsarahparker.blogspot.com/2013/09/our-week.html
Saturday, September 14, 2013. Also this week, Layla has started noticing Opie more. She now laughs when he kisses her and she reaches for him when he walks past. She likes to grab his hair, which both Mike and I worry about a bit since Opie sheds like it's no body's business. Layla gets a big handful and then of course tries to put it in her mouth. Disgusting. The glee in her face. Mike and Sarah Parker. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Links to Other Things We Like. On the bright side of the road.
