Sunday, August 21, 2011. Well, yesterday @ 8am the pork butt went on the grill. By 7am this morning, it was ready. The shoulder bone came out without any effort and the pork "pulled" easy. On a bun, with some vinager sauce and coleslaw. It was good. Friday: Dry rubbed, wrapped and into the fridge. Saturday: 8am on the grill to smoke for a couple hours and then cooked for at least 10 more hours adding charcoal as needed. Maintained 225 degrees all day. 7am woke and prepped. Sunday, August 14, 2011. One and an eighth cup flour. 1 stick unsalted butter. Mix dry ingredients in mixer to combine. Cut butter up into eight pieces and add to food processor and pulse till combined then put in a bowl. Add water and combine into a.ball using a wooden spoon. Add another tablespoon water if needed. Put ball in plastic wrap and put in feezer for ten minutes. Roll out on floured surface to fit a nine inch glass pie pan. 1 and a half quarts of fresh picked strawberries. Red Eye Gravy with ...

Sunday, February 12, 2012. 3 lb pork butt (shoulder) cut into 2 to 3 inch pieces. 1/4 cup vegetable oil. 1/2 an onion rough chopped. 3 big garlic cloves, crushed. 1/2 cup chopped cilantro. 1 cinnamon stick broken into peices. Goat cheese(if possible Queso Fresco). These tacos are great! This recipe is adapted from, " The Food Lab: Make Crisp, Juicy Carnitas—Without a Bucket of Lard. J Kenji López-Alt at Seriouseats.com. These go wonderful with homemade salsa and guacamole:. 3 or 4 Roma tomatoes, diced.

Thursday, February 24, 2011. OhAllison made some great stew last night. And biscuits! Package of stew meat. Half a bag of Baby carrots. 4 cans of beef broth. Brown meat with salt and pepper. Add veggies. 3 cans of beef broth and bay leaf. Cook simmering until liquid has reduced greatly. Then add one more can of broth. Use a tablespoon of flower in some cold water to thicken broth. This will not thicken it completely and you'll have to simmer for some time to also develop the flavor. Pizza on a budget.

Saturday, August 15, 2009. We took Lucas to play mini golf one afternoon this week. While golf really isn't his sport (it doesn't involve running), he did enjoy throwing the balls in different places and playing in the waterfalls. I know, I know. Tuesday, September 29, 2009. Lucas has been heavy into building things. He made a block tower for Uncle Michael while he was on the phone, and today he created this mixed media work consisting of wooden blocks and train tracks. Saturday, September 26, 2009. Lucas was really proud of the way he arranged his Cars movie toys (even though he's not supposed to play with them on the table), so I snapped this picture for him. He's also been doing some really nice train track layouts that I should document.
