Out Active If it's easy, it's not worth doing! Sunday, 12 February 2012. Endomondo saved the world. Simply Epic and Rockhard crew headed down to Innerleithen for some great biking in damp conditions. We met up at the local coffee stop and got a brew followed by a quick change and off to the climb out the golf club. Bill and I went on a great course with Jules Fincham over the Speyside hills. Storm force winds meant we stayed relatively low (600m) and made a quick ascent of Mid Hill. Like waving at the tree, stopping to look at the Buachaille has become a part of what we all do, so pulling into Jacksonville it was clear that Crowberry Gully. Would be in good nick. The day started early and with a plan to climb Shelf route but conditions looked thin from Jacksonville. The mild temperatures have wreaked havoc with black rock everywhere. We headed up curved ridge on damp slippy rock till we hit the snow line. There is lots of snow in all the gully lines but a good freeze is needed ASAP. As the headwall looked very steep indeed with monster horizontal cracks. Impressive crevasses at the foot of the Coire.
