I went last year for the first time, and she invited me again this year. This year 6 of the local ALTs joined the party; Paul, Austin, Abby, Todd, Jimmy and myself. The Dropped Jaw Effect. Monday, April 12, 2010. On the 9th February a group of us headed to the northern island of Hokkaido. After about 20 hours travel, including a ferry, we arrived in the capital Sapporo. Every year they host the most famous snow festival in Japan; the Sapporo Snow Festival. Sunday, February 24, 2008. Last weekend I went to Yokote's kamakura festival, for which a few parts of the town are filled with igloo-like snow huts. Friendly locals manned the huts (very homey inside! An inside look.surprise! You have to take off your shoes. A small shrine kamakura. We finally made it inside one! Amelie, jon, owen, cathy and edel. I was very disappointed when I discovered this snow sculpture was not a rabbit, as I had hoped from afar, but pikachu. My favorite picture from the festival!

Tuesday, September 16, 2008. This weekend was an annual Akita JET camping trip to Lake Tazawa, that I had a hand in organizing as a Room to Read fundraiser. Fun times! The new Honjo girls - Jez and Abby, and me! The blue blue waters of Lake Tazawa. One of the few places on the lake I had never visited before. Walking the riverside sakura path in Kakunodate. Monday, July 30, 2007. The hotel is really nice, although a little heavy on the 80's all-gold decor. Sunday, 21 March 2010. Movies on the move. You know, using a connected device using something like satellite network access. Would mean that you could watch streaming video anywhere you wanted. I don’t know what the connection would be like if you’re using it while watching in a moving car. But hopefully thanks to pre-caching you should be able to get a decent stream. I’m sitting on my sofa watching Hercules with Arthur and thinking about our forthcoming trip to the UK. Would be fun to see if it works.
