rail2trail.org - Why not a Train?
http://www.rail2trail.org/pages/home/why-not-a-train.php
Why not a train? In 2003, the Waterfall train disaster cost the lives of seven people and injured many others. It changed attitudes to railway safety in NSW; it was the catalyst for wide-ranging changes to equipment and procedures and it might well have influenced the decision to suspend services on the Casino to Murwillumbah branch line in 2004. Would 15% of the commuters in the Northern Rivers get out of their cars and commute by train? A future train linked to Queensland should be integrated with the ...

History will record The Greens' role in the rail trail debate. Comment published in the Northern Star on Wednesday 21 January 2015. The Greens will have egg all over their faces when the rail trail delivers the goods and everyone starts to wonder how we ever lived without it. They will deserve to squirm over history recording that they opposed it! Graphic Design by Peter Jeffery Graphic Design. Design by NodeThirtyThree Design. Powered by Website Baker.

When the Casino - Murwillumbah Rail Trail is complete we will be regular riders. I will be able to ride my bike from my home at Bentley to work in Lismore (it is far too dangerous to ride on the road). I recently became a Grandad, and I look forward to a few years time when I can put Tylah on a 'tag-a-long' and head off for a cycling holiday on our own local Rail Trail. Tony Keogh, Bentley. Darryl Pursey, Goonellabah. John and Ros Perry, Lismore. Stephanie and Julian Lymburner, Wardell. I feel the benefi...

rail2trail.org - Plan B vs Nothing
http://www.rail2trail.org/pages/home/plan-b-vs-nothing.php
Plan B versus 'Nothing'. There is a misconception in the community that the rail trail proposal is an alternative to the train. This is not so. The name 'Plan B' was chosen in particular to acknowledge that returning the train was 'Plan A'. In fact, Plan B is an alternative to ending up with 'nothing' should the campaign to return the train fail, as it would now seem inevitable. And 'Tourism and the Train'. Ultimately, this proposal also preserves the corridor for a future train. Powered by Website Baker.

rail2trail.org - The Greens - What a Disappointment!
http://www.rail2trail.org/pages/home/the-greens---what-a-disappointment.php
Why a loyal Greens voter jumped ship. Published in the Northern Star on Wednesday 29 October 2014. Her perceived integrity in tatters, she was unceremoniously chucked out, it was a Greens ‘own goal’. The Abbott Government came in, the ETS went out, we were back to square one. Didn’t the Greens see that coming? Thanks for your email and apologies for sending a half-finished email just then. I just wanted to acknowledge your email and let you know that I will respond more fully shortly.

A Lot Has Changed Since 1894. Our old railway corridor contains heritage treasures. A commuter train service will fail to meet the expectations of commuters. The 'Surf Train' is from a fondly remembered era. A rail trail will prevent the loss of this incredible asset. Graphic Design by Peter Jeffery Graphic Design. Design by NodeThirtyThree Design.
