Pauls Other War Games: April 2014

http://paulywaulysotherwargames.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html

Pauls Other War Games. A view of my wargaming interests other than 18th Century imaginary wars. Thursday, 3 April 2014. Modern Wargame Rules v2. Here are some scans of version 2, I hope they make sense. Cold War period city fighting. I had a couple of games today using my small and unbalanced collection of Skytrex Action 200 miniatures bought in the mid eighties. British Chally 1s and Warriors. A Soviet T-80 is KO'd. A brace of BTRs. British Scorpions open fire at the BTRs. And blow them to bits. A J's W...

Pauls Other War Games. A view of my wargaming interests other than 18th Century imaginary wars. Wednesday, 27 August 2014. Commands and Colors blocks used for Black Powder. I had this game set up since the weekend. I had planned to play it tomorrow (day off) but I'll make up the time then. The inspiration for this was the maps in Bruce Quarries classic book. I used my Commands and Colors blocks for the armies and used the lists from the Napoleonic scenario in the Black Powder Rule book. Dropzone Commande...

Pauls Other War Games. A view of my wargaming interests other than 18th Century imaginary wars. Sunday, 27 July 2014. Another quick game of Flames of War. I had a quick game of Flames of War this morning. Crucially the Allied air support failed to show up and the battle was a disaster for them as a result. Here are a few photos taken at the end of the game. I quite like FOW, it seems like a tank orientated game, it might be good with micro tanks. Labels: Flames of War. Thursday, 10 July 2014. Pauls Other War Games: October 2014

Pauls Other War Games. A view of my wargaming interests other than 18th Century imaginary wars. Tuesday, 28 October 2014. I bought myself the Axis and Allies Angels 20 starter set at the weekend, it arrived on Monday and I've had some exciting dogfights since. The six planes are very nice. The rules give a fast and fun game. Years ago I planned to make a similar game using 1/72 scale model planes but it wouldn't have been as good as this. The maps are thin but they look pretty good. A Corgi Tiger lurks.

Pauls Other War Games. A view of my wargaming interests other than 18th Century imaginary wars. Sunday, 29 June 2014. A quick game of Flames of War. I had a quick game of Flames of War tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it, below are a few photos of the action. As the Germans advance they come under attack by the RAF. A British tank platoon charges over the bridge. The StuG platoon is overwhelmed by the firepower from the riverbank. Typhoon returning to base. The Typhoons attack the Tigers again. But the Ger...

At the Queen's Command. Wargaming battles of the Victorian era with toy soldiers. Being A History of the Current Rules. Every wargame (every game, most likely) starts off as one thing, and gradually morphs into something else. Every wargame designer will tell you that the game they set out to create is not the same game that wound up going to print. Sometimes the changes are small; simple re-balancing of factions or units to allow for more fair (or accurate) play. On July 9, 2011 at 8:18 pm Comments (2).

Just another WordPress.com site. February 26, 2013. At the end of the day #17: Moments of clarity #1. I had a thought to day. It was one of those glancing thoughts, the ones that threaten to pass really quickly, leaving your mind scabbing to hold onto something which may be important, a revelation of consciousness even. The thought, If I can articulate is an approximation of this:. I don’t need your approval! Its an important definition. February 19, 2013. What constitutes success in the 21st century?

18th Century imaginary wars in miniature. Sunday, 5 February 2017. Today I played a scenario from One Hour Wargames using Keith Flints SYW rules Honours of War published by Osprey. The Eisenburgers in white had to hold both the village and the hill while the Altsteiners in blue would win by capturing either. Both sides had seven battalions of foot, two squadrons of horse and four light guns the Altsteiners also had a unit of Jager. Fighting for the village. While the hill is well defended. I sketched out...
