Spongy egg in a sweet and sour gravy. 1 large onion (thinly sliced). 1 large tomato (chopped into small pieces). 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder. 1 tsp Red chili powder. 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds. 1 tsp Ginger garlic paste. 1 small lime sized ball of Tamarind (make into pulp). Salt to taste (I used garlic salt). Add chopped tomato followed by tamarind pulp. Add some water and allow to cook. Adjust water according to desired consistency of gravy. Turn off heat and serve with hot rotis.

Mehthi daal (Fenugreek daal) and Awards. 1 Bunch Mehthi leaves. 1 cup Yellow lentil soaked in water and pressure cooked. 1 Small Onion thinly sliced. 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder. 3 tsp Lemon juice. 2-3 Dried red chillies. 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds. 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds. 1 tsp Garlic flakes. Heat oil in a pan splutter cumin and mustard seeds. Add curry leaves, green and red chillies. asafoetida. Saute for a minute. Turn off heat add lemon juice combine well. Serve with steamed rice.

Monday, February 02, 2009. Whole Green gram snack (Pesarlu). 1 Cup Whole Green gram (Pesarlu). 1 tsp Mustard seeds. 1 tsp Cumin seeds. 2-3 Dried red chilies. 1-2 Cloves of garlic roughly crushed. Soak the whole green gram (pesarlu) overnight. Drain the water and pressure cook. Keep aside. Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds, cumin seeds and curry leaves. Add green and red chilies saute for a minute, add the roughly crushed clove of garlic and asafoetida. Enjoy the snack with a hot cup of coffee.

Monday, January 05, 2009. Minapappu punugulu (Urad dal vada). 1 cup Urad dal (minapappu). 1 tbsp Cumin seeds. 4-5 Green chillies chopped. 1 small Onion finely chopped. 1 tbsp Rice flour.
