Killin' time being lazy: I just have to rant
http://lazygal.blogspot.com/2015/06/i-just-have-to-rant.html
Killin' time being lazy. A miscellany of thoughts, newsclips and ephemera. I just have to rant. Years ago, in high school and college, there were teachers/professors we knew were more friendly than they should be, that there were some who had inappropriate relationships with students. True or not, things were different then and we didn't get as upset about the abuse of position and trust and all that as we do now. I'm not defending, just sayin'. I had a friend who was raped. And now there's a teacher who...

Killin' time being lazy: My Biases
http://lazygal.blogspot.com/2006/09/my-biases.html
Killin' time being lazy. A miscellany of thoughts, newsclips and ephemera. Doug asks that bloggers be up front about our biases. I've just decided I won't read anybody who doesn't tell me where s/he is coming from. Why should I pay any attention to a person who does not have experience or may have some sort of hidden agenda that colors her/his writings? If the agenda is stated, no problem. See My Biases. And John Pederson's biases. Will Richardson has his " Disclaimer. A college education - or beyond ...

Killin' time being lazy: Grumble Millennials Grumble
http://lazygal.blogspot.com/2015/07/grumble-millennials-grumble.html
Killin' time being lazy. A miscellany of thoughts, newsclips and ephemera. Yes, I'm an old fogey and getting older by the minute. The past week just proves it. Sunday, while shopping, I attempted asking a question about a product. The young'un in charge of that area was so involved with her texting that I gave up. Or that when you're sitting at a table with younger colleagues (and by younger, read "young enough to be your children") they make polite conversation or - at the very least - they acknowledge ...

Killin' time being lazy: Reflections
http://lazygal.blogspot.com/2015/04/reflections.html
Killin' time being lazy. A miscellany of thoughts, newsclips and ephemera. Every five years, for the past 35, I've been getting together with my high school classmates (not all 105 of them, but as many as 30 at a time). It's called Reunion. And this weekend is my 35th. Gulp. Overall, I have to say, life is pretty good. Yes, there's the acedia. Well as of right now I'm 3 books behind on my 2015 goal (a couple of good weekends should take care of that). But overall? SalvationsSongs: Bandwagons
http://salvationssongs.blogspot.com/2015/01/bandwagons.html
I will sing my Jesus' story, To Him all my heart belongs: I will sing of thorns and glory, I will sing Salvation's Songs. Saturday, January 10, 2015. In the light of the atrocities in Paris this week, I entirely want to associate with the French people, and with all who have suffered from terrorism. We are the same. We stand together. We are human beings. I'm just not sure about that. Still: no-one deserves what happened in that magazine office this week. I don't need to have read a copy of Charlie H...

SalvationsSongs: April 2015
http://salvationssongs.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
I will sing my Jesus' story, To Him all my heart belongs: I will sing of thorns and glory, I will sing Salvation's Songs. Wednesday, April 29, 2015. I'm at the High Leigh conference centre in Hertfordshire for a four day gathering of church leaders from Oxford Diocese. The conference is entitled 'Leading Your Church into Growth', LYCiG for short. I'm here with Richard, lay reader in my Benefice, and we are leading worship through the week. But High Leigh has a different memory for me. I was almost at the...

SalvationsSongs: January 2015

I will sing my Jesus' story, To Him all my heart belongs: I will sing of thorns and glory, I will sing Salvation's Songs. Saturday, January 31, 2015. O I do like to be beside the Ski-side. I was sitting and chatting with the president of the DHO ski club, and we were talking about places that mean something to us. Somehow there are places that happen in our lives where we feel like we belong," I said, "places that are home to us. They are a gift from God, and we should enjoy and cherish them.". A holiday...

SalvationsSongs: turn, turn, turn
http://salvationssongs.blogspot.com/2014/11/turn-turn-turn.html
I will sing my Jesus' story, To Him all my heart belongs: I will sing of thorns and glory, I will sing Salvation's Songs. Tuesday, November 11, 2014. Turn, turn, turn. I had one of those moments yesterday that made me stop in my tracks. It was wonderful. But yesterday I was asked a question and I didn't know the answer. I mean, of course, right? But this was a theological question. A substantive theological question. A simple theological question. An obvious theological question. And I had no answer.

SalvationsSongs: July 2015
http://salvationssongs.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
I will sing my Jesus' story, To Him all my heart belongs: I will sing of thorns and glory, I will sing Salvation's Songs. Friday, July 31, 2015. I’ve just read Ed Shaw’s ‘ The Plausibility Problem - the church and same-sex attraction. 8217; I’m reading around a few books from different evangelical standpoints on gay issues at the moment as I do a bit of writing myself. Now I need to make two confessions. First, if you read this blog, you know that I too am an evangelical Anglican vicar, single, celib...

SalvationsSongs: June 2015
http://salvationssongs.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
I will sing my Jesus' story, To Him all my heart belongs: I will sing of thorns and glory, I will sing Salvation's Songs. Monday, June 29, 2015. The difference between having a dream and living one. I've been fascinated by the phenomenon this weekend of all sorts of people registering their support for the Pride movement by changing their facebook profile pictures to have a rainbow filter. I guess it's felt like a momentous week. The US Supreme Court finally ruled in favour. At the funeral of the pastor ...
