Reads, Cooks, Eats. Attempting to cook my way through my cookery book collection, one day at a time. Friday, 8 April 2011. This will sound sacriligious to some people, but I have never really liked soda bread. I've made it in an emergency when I've realised I am out of the regular or sourdough sort, but usually I avoid it. A little place for my little thoughts. Tuesday, January 30, 2007. One restaurant I find myself returning to in Chamonix is this little Japanese eaterie. Sitting quietly on the corner just past the Place du Mont Blanc at 286 rue Joseph Vallot. As you enter it has the feel of a cafe, all white with a service counter at the end that did a thriving trade in takeaways during our meal.
