Jet Mill CNC Conversion

Jet Mill CNC Conversion. Is a fine mill, I found it was a bit to small for the kind of work I want to do. So I started watching for a bigger mill. My shop. Is on the second floor of my house. In fact, the mill is placed almost exactly above my bed, so I really was not sure I wanted a 2000 pound Bridgeport up there. I found a Jet JVM-840 knee mill at Brothers Macinery Exchange. This photo also shows the Y lead screw in place, you can see the aluminum post sticking up that will go into the saddle casting.

A log of our trip out west in June of 2007. We were invited to a wedding at Half Moon Bay in California on July 7, 2007. Since flying is so little fun we decided to drive to the wedding, it will only be about 10,000 miles! These pages tell the story of our trip. We left Maine on May 30, and drove to Detroit to attend another wedding, then we headed 'up north' in Michigan, to see plaes we both visited a long time ago. Note the Wyoming and Montana pages are not yet complete. June 30, Mt St. Helens.

I have wanted to build a CNC router since I started making model boats kits about 1992 I started reading and tinkering and along the way learned a great deal about CNC I have converted a Sherline. As part of this experience. I now use the Prazi regularly to make model parts. The stand was welded from 3/4" square steel tube. CNC conversion is a nice machine I wanted a larger machine. I acquired a nice Prazi F1200 mill from a friend in January 2004. He purchased it planning to make it a CNC conversion but before he 'got around to it' Prazi offered a ready to run system. He purchased one and wanted to sell this mill.
