Portland Oregon Backyard Birds: January 2011

http://portlandbirds.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

Monday, January 24, 2011. Looking through our photos that we took of the Merlin in our neighborhood 2 days ago, we discovered that a Northern Flicker was flying by at one point. We thought it was kind of a cool photo. Posted by Seth and Michelle. Portland oregon backyard birds. Saturday, January 22, 2011. We just saw a Merlin in NE Portland! Tuesday, October 4, 2011. Been away for a while. We apologize for not posting in the last few months. We will try to get a little better about posting regularly. Here are a few photos from the last few months with more to come soon. None of these are in particular order. Take care and good birding! A Steller's Jay waiting for a handful of peanuts. A Song Sparrow taking a quick bath. A Bushtit getting ready to take off after grabbing. Townsend's and Black-Throated Gray Warblers. Same 3 little guys. We don...

Portland Oregon Backyard Birds: February 2010

http://portlandbirds.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

Wednesday, February 17, 2010. Yesterday, Michelle and I went to Jackson Bottom Wetlands to scout for some first of year birds. We weren't disappointed! We identified 51 species and suspect at few other species. It was a little foggy at first, but it burned off pretty quickly. Hope you enjoy the photos. A list of birds we saw is at the end of this post. 2 adult Bald Eagles flew right over our heads as we were making our way through the area. A Belted Kingfisher scanning for some breakfast. The first thing...

Summer Break Time: Happy Mother's Day

http://disummerbreak.blogspot.com/2011/05/happy-mothers-day.html

Saturday, May 7, 2011. Looks like momma coyote is nursing some pups somewhere in the woods. I wonder how long it will be before she brings them out to play. Last weekend we saw a redwing blackbird attacking this red-tailed hawk. It was almost sitting on top of him. Once I got the camera out I figured out that it must have been the snake that the blackbird wanted. . Wow Mama coyote is beautiful! And what a good use for a snake.lunch for a hawk. Summer Break Time: July 2009

http://disummerbreak.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

Sunday, July 26, 2009. Summer time is here. This is one of the flycatchers we have around here. I believe it is a Western Wood Pewee. Of course the deer had to show off her little ones too. The plant with the red flowers is in full bloom and so the rufous hummingbird is very excited and sticks around in the backyard. It is fun to watch them and I get "buzzed" quite often. Wednesday, July 1, 2009. Ridgefield Wildlife - more than just birds. Ruddy Duck with a blue bill. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Saturday, February 12, 2011. Coyotes are out during the day! I saw three coyotes in the backyard last weekend. This little deer came right up to the window to see what was in the house. We went to Ridgefield and did the "bird whisper" and this kestrel came to see what we were doing. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Coyotes are out during the day!

Steph's Birding Blog: January 2013

http://brickbungalowbackyard.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Thursday, January 10, 2013. I am a bad blogger! I can barely keep up with one, let alone two. I've decided to combine them. So if anyone would like to join me, I can be found at: Little Brick Bungalow. Yard has been pretty busy with the regulars, but this cute little Red Breasted Nuthatch is new. It's been hanging out since Christmas Day. It may have been here sooner, but this is the first that I've seen it. I also saw a White Breasted Nuthatch on Christmas Eve, but not since. Steph's Birding Blog: May 2009

http://brickbungalowbackyard.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html

Friday, May 22, 2009. Finally getting to enjoy the Spring! It was a very busy week for me. 4 tests within a week, I thought my brain was going to explode - luckily I got to get out last weekend and today. First: on 5/10, I spotted a Hairy Woodpecker in the yard. He went to both feeders, I am kind of wondering if he's the same one that stopped in over the winter. Pics are blurry and dark because I took them through the window. Walking up to the pond we were greeted by this family of 5:. On our way back we...

Portland Bird Observatory and Field Centre

To see yesterday's rain replaced by sunny skies seemed like the highlight the day so the fact that there were a few birds as well was quite a bonus - numbers weren't up to what we'd seen last week but, as was becoming evident as the week went on, variety's on the up. The Bill got most of the passerine coverage and returned totals that included 100 Willow Warblers. On the ground and a steady flow of hirundines. Overhead. Wader variety dropped right off at Ferrybridge, where 2 Sanderlings. And a Little Gull.
