With so many options with patterns, colors and layouts, the variety of outcomes are unlimited! Appliqué quilts can be fun and easy, especially if you appliqué with your sewing machine! Here’s how I will be making a dragonfly appliqué quilt today:. Thread in assorted colors, to coordinate or match fabrics, or a dark color s...

Monday, September 22, 2008. My Few Minutes of Fame. What a lucky day! My Dragonfly Quilt (the one I created earlier here as a tutorial) was featured on Etsy's front page today! It was highlighted in a fabulous treasury, created by JenSport. Who is one of my teammates on Quiltsy Team. Be sure to check out her shop for some great bibs, bags and quilts! Here is a screenshot of the front page (mine is the one on the upper right):. Posted by Melody's Unchained! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Let me make ...

Melody's Unchained: February 2011
http://melodysunchained.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Sunday, February 6, 2011. It's been way too long since I posted. Sorry. I have been experimenting with making winter hats. My inspiration was my 13 year old, who purchased a hat at Hot Topic. I thought, "I can make those". So after a few tries, with pattern adjustments, I did it! I made a wolf hat for DD's friend, and a couple of bunny hats. I recycled sweaters into hats with matching fingerless gloves. I am so pleased with the results! Posted by Melody's Unchained! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Liz Staley...

Melody's Unchained: August 2008
http://melodysunchained.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Thursday, August 7, 2008. Dragonfly Applique Quilt is Finished! I finally finished the quilt I blogged about on June 25. I have to admit, I had a lot of fun making this one. Bright and cheerful, in every color of the rainbow! I hand-quilted with cotton quilter's thread around each dragonfly, inside and outside of each "frame", and along the border. I also washed and dried the quilt to test washability, and it's OK! I also make custom quilts, so if you know of anyone who is wanting one, let me know! I cur...

Door Ornament: The King of the Jungle - Olansa Cuttings - David Harrison / Printmaking / Archive
http://blog.olansa.co.uk/2008/02/25/door-ornament-the-king-of-the-jungle
David Harrison / Printmaking / Archive. On Monday, 25 February 2008 by David Harrison. Door Ornament: The King of the Jungle. Conventional wisdom says to burnish the transfer. But conventional wisdom doesn’t own a hydraulic press, so there! One minute and six tonnes later I had a perfect transfer. I’d already darkened the surface of the block with a mid-grey Copic Sketch Marker. The alcohol-based ink doesn’t fluff up the wood like water-based highlighters can, so it’s perfect for the job....The woodblock...

Olansa Cuttings - David Harrison / Printmaking / Archive

David Harrison / Printmaking / Archive. On Tuesday, 13 February 2007 by David Harrison. What we did on our winter vacation. In keeping with the ‘post it late’ ethos, here’s mention of an early January visit to the National Art Gallery. I had little idea what to expect. From the outside the whole place seemed rather aggressive: warplanes, tanks and whatnot. Turned out it was the wrong place. The gallery was further along the street. I recognised Kefallinós’s work from a marvellous book given to me s...
