Reinventing the Adventist Wheel: Everything You Think You Know About Addiction Is Wrong

http://reinventingsdawheel.blogspot.com/2015/08/everything-you-think-you-know-about.html

Thursday, August 06, 2015. Everything You Think You Know About Addiction Is Wrong. What really causes addiction - to everything from cocaine to smartphones? And how can we overcome it? Johann Hari has seen our current methods fail firsthand, as he watched loved ones struggle to manage their addictions. He started to wonder why we treat addicts the way we do - and if there might be a better way. As he shares in this deeply personal talk. Posted by Andy Hanson. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Reinventing the Adventist Wheel: Message for Non-Adventists

http://reinventingsdawheel.blogspot.com/p/message-for-non-adventists.html

Links to this post. December 8, 2012 at 5:49 AM. As a non-adventist (actually, an ex-adventist), I am wondering what beliefs and practices characterize the left-leaning fringe. I ended my relationship with the church more than 40 years ago, and I imagine that a progressive/liberal branch mostly developed after I left. My departure was largely a result of discovering how deeply the church was in denial of the abundant evidence that contradicts the YEC story/dogma. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Reinventing the Adventist Wheel: Resurrection: A Reality or a Pious Dream? Part X The Story of the Ascension

http://reinventingsdawheel.blogspot.com/2015/08/resurrection-reality-or-pious-dream.html

Thursday, August 06, 2015. Resurrection: A Reality or a Pious Dream? Part X The Story of the Ascension. By John Shelby Spong. Among the followers of Jesus, there was also a sense of his continued presence after the crucifixion. This experience ultimately created stories that suggested that this presence was literal and real. We noted that Paul used the word “ophthe”. Could it have been photographed? Could this experience be real and yet not physical? Listen to Luke’s language. Luke has Jesus in...Luke ha...

Chris Ostos: Re:solutions

http://chrisostos.blogspot.com/2011/01/resolutions.html

Monday, January 3, 2011. Instead of resolution, I like re:solution. Dictionary.com defines the word solution. As this: the act or process of solving a problem. Now I like that better than resolution and I'm left with the question, what problems in my life will I be trying to solve this year? I currently recognize several problems that I've failed to solve in my life. And I want that to be the solution to my current problem. What solutions will you come up with to fix those problems? When you look at spor...

Chris Ostos: New Year Update

http://chrisostos.blogspot.com/2011/01/new-year-update.html

Sunday, January 9, 2011. Just a little over a week into the New Year and it's already been more than exciting! I had a chance to win it at the buzzer with an alley-oop pass given to me from a teammate but I missed the layup. Two hard losses in one day to start the new year. But that's alright. It's a humbling experience. Can't win them all and at least I'm getting the exercise in. In spite of that, it was a great overall weekend! By David Kinnaman and Gabe Lyons.). And yes, they were more than right!

The Cress Chronicle: June 2008

http://cresschronicle.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html

Monday, June 23, 2008. Only God in Heaven Can Make a Butterfly. Emmy came home from day care last week singing this song, and since this is the first thing I've been able to get her to sing upon request in FOREVER, I thought I'd better capture it on video for posterity. In case you can't understand the words, they're as follows:. Little caterpillar, he climbed up in a tree. He wiggled long, he wiggled short, he wiggled right at me. I put him in a little box, "Don't go away" I said. Links to this post.

The Cress Chronicle: January 2008

http://cresschronicle.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html

Sunday, January 13, 2008. As we were discussing how to celebrate Emmy's third birthday, my mother, who had kindly offered ot host the party, suggested a birthday tea. Having considered the bewildering array of party themes built solely around an animated Disney character or TV show and wanting something less expensive and more unique, we thought a tea party would fit the bill admirably. My mom and I had gleefully prepared a beautiful toddler feast - heart-shaped peanut butter and honey (Emmy's favorite) ...

The Cress Chronicle: March 2008

http://cresschronicle.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html

Sunday, March 30, 2008. Happy Birthday, Dear Daddy. After we were seated, Peter opened his present from Emmy and Mommy - a new t-shirt emblazoned with a cute pic of Emmy and the text "Some bunny. Is that gag-me cutesy or what? Although our alfresco dining experience was a trifle chilly, the stimulating company and terrific mediterranean cuisine more than made up for the windchill factor. Accompaniment to my mom's to-die-for banana cream pie. Links to this post. Sunday, March 23, 2008. Links to this post.

Living Without A Map

http://striker-21.livejournal.com/tag/health

Purr balls and fanged things. Who runs this madhouse. Living Without A Map. A journey of faith. 05:52 am March 20th, 2007. Try this: open a window before you go to bed. Perhaps two. If it is cold, open them only a little. If it is warm open the one closest to you a bit more. Then see how you sleep. I find that I wake after six hours refreshed and ready for the day regardless of what hour it is in the morning. Today it was 4:00 am because I went to bed at 10:00 pm. Or Set a waypoint. Where I am is unclear.

Self-Help Junkie

Stop Waiting. Start Living. Friday, October 23, 2009. Should we keep waiting for self-help to fix us or is it time to fix self-help? Although it may be difficult to admit, many of us come to the self-help field to be fixed. We wouldn’t want to state it so bluntly, but it is often the case. And it may not be the only reason we come, but somewhere under the surface we hope we will finally, once and for all, be fixed. This is the work we have ahead of us in our task to fix self-help. I have been emphasi...
