Richmond Terminal RR: August 2014

Friday, August 29, 2014. NMRA Contest Models - Steel Truss Bridge. Continuing our bridge theme, this model is fairly compact, but the mass of the prototype comes through this very nice HO model. 4 tracks; this was another well researched model from a prototype. Thursday, August 28, 2014. NMRA Contest Model - Lift Bridge. Continuing with the series to discuss the contest models at the past NMRA convention, I'd like to highlight one of the large bridge models that was, I believe, an award winner. Anyway, I...

Richmond Terminal Railroad - Operations Main Page
http://www.richmond-terminal.org/ops.html
Operations - The Basics. Mostly, the operation framework or scheme. How cars (freight and passenger) are tracked. How trains are allowed to move across the railroad. You can answer these questions with answers as simple as "I say put all green cars here" or as complex as using computer generated (and updated in real time) lists with full signalling and track warrant systems. Trains are allowed to move based on the control of a dispatcher, who works the CTC (Centralized Traffic Control) system. Enter the ...

Richmond Terminal RR: Half a Sky
http://richmond-terminal.blogspot.com/2015/04/half-sky.html
Wednesday, April 22, 2015. Started getting back and working on the layout after a pretty long layoff. The next step is getting the backdrops painted a nice blue. My plan is to use two different shades of blue to hopefully give me the right slope of color across the sky. So, here's the top, darker, color in a couple of shots. Bear Island paper mill area in foreground. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). RailRoad Blogs I Read:. View my complete profile.

Richmond Terminal RR: February 2015

Friday, February 20, 2015. Railfanning as Prototype Research. As I have discussed on this blog, as well as the railroad website. I have been collecting as much information as I can about the area, railroads, industries and operations of who/what/where I am attempting to model. While I have been researching to make my modeling better, one of the big pieces is being able to document what I see on a daily basis around town, such as when signals get replaced. How is it vital? It makes it easier! As the clich...

Tuesday, January 13, 2015. Not much happened since I've blogged last; an additional op session was run and a handful of things have been done, but besides that, nothing much is going on with the railroad right now. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). RailRoad Blogs I Read:. View my complete profile.
