About BiodiversityMapping.org
http://www.biodiversitymapping.org/about.htm
The original inspiration for this site came during the preparation of the scientific paper, Global patterns of terrestrial vertebrate diversity and conservation. Published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences in 2013. Seeing a need for more widely accessible maps of where the many species on our planet live, I took the first steps in building what would become BiodiveristyMapping.org. The first map was for salamanders, created while sitting in the Macon County Public Library. Clinton N&...

Insect Biodiversity and Biogeography Laboratory, HKU. Global Ant Biodiversity (GABI). I am an ecologist interested in various aspects of the diversity of life. My research seeks to answer the following questions. Where are the most species-rich regions of the world? How can some regions sustain thousands of species while others have only a few dozen? Were today’s most diverse regions as diverse 10, 50, or 100 million years ago? Do different groups of organisms follow the same diversity patterns?

Mikoontz at gmail dot com. Effect of topoclimate complexity on woody species community diversity. University of California, Berkeley; University of California, Davis; USGS; Pepperwood Preserve. We found that topoclimate variation does indeed explain woody community turnover, but only weakly. Other processes, such as dispersal limitation or a legacy of disturbance history, may be more important drivers of community variation at the topoclimate scale. Seed banks and seedling growth under warming conditions.

Your Wild Life Blog. The Wild Life of Our Bodies. The Wild Life of Our Bodies. June 21, 2011. A biologist shows the influence of wild species on our well-being and world, and how, even in places like our bedrooms, where we have most completely cleansed ourselves of nature, nature still clings to us–it always will. At the Dunn Lab. Your Wild Life Blog. Getting Dirty for Good Health. The Writer Who Built the World’s First Engine-Powered Submarine. New Revelations about the Biodiversity of Belly Buttons.
