Poems aye, right! Welcome to my poetry blog. If you pitched up here on purpose or inadvertently stumbled onto this site, either way, I hope you won't be disappointed and that you'll stick around long enough to read something. Iain Pyctte Colville. Saturday, 20 December 2014. A life in the day. I think this was the first poem I ever had published, at least, it was amongst the first, appearing in Reflections. He went a-poaching, seen as ancient right. And rounding wooded hill as day awoke. Accursed, for in...

Poetry, prose and music. About Days of Roses. Three poems from Matthew Stewart’s Inventing Truth. I saw one of Matthew Stewart’s poems on Dan Wyke’s Other Lives. Blog recently, and was drawn to its combination of emotional impact and impressive restraint. Having since investigated further and discovered his use of syllabics, knack for concision and love of Keith Douglas I’m doubly delighted to have been introduced to his work. Matthew blogs himself, at Rogue Strands. And his debut pamphlet. Maybe you can...

I said I’d recently started to feel frustrated that I couldn’t recognise different trees in winter. So Michael enumerated them as we drove past: ash, oak, oak, ash, oak, some alders over there, poplar, poplar, poplar, oak…. I think I am now quite good at oaks. And having a discuss...
