Fibre Sauvage: December 2012
http://fibresauvage.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Saori Inspired Weaving and Knitting with Natural Fibres. Monday, December 3, 2012. Textile and Wood - an "hors pair" combination. Speaking of the Crawl. It's been a pleasure for a second time around. To display some of my weaving along with Stu's work. At Beatty Street Woodworkers. We both enjoy playing with the characters of our chosen medium to create one-of-a-kind pieces. A delightful scarf knitted with alpaca, the cool cross scarf. And a recent sculptural woven addition. Posted by Fibre Sauvage.

Saori Inspired Weaving and Knitting with Natural Fibres. Tuesday, January 17, 2012. Knitting In the Round. Why knit flat when it can be done in the round" is my approach to knitting these days. And just about every garments can be knitted in the round - making it easy to try projects right off the needles (especially on two pairs of circular ones), and customizing them along the way. To knit in the round also means there's no seams and therefore less sewing of these tricky edges. Posted by Fibre Sauvage.

Fibre Sauvage: February 2012

Saori Inspired Weaving and Knitting with Natural Fibres. Saturday, February 25, 2012. More Knitting In the Round . More Socks. Noro yarn enchants in the morning sun while tabi socks keep the big toes cozy and warm. A touch of green merino wool from Louet Gem accentuates the fushia from Lorna's Laces. A perfect combination for jazzing up the feet. Posted by Fibre Sauvage. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Taquine la Muse - Home Page. At The Urban Weaver Studio. Fibre Sauvage: Weaving Beyond Cloth
http://fibresauvage.blogspot.com/2012/09/weaving-beyond-cloth.html
Saori Inspired Weaving and Knitting with Natural Fibres. Tuesday, September 4, 2012. For a few months now, I've been taking part in The Urban Weaver Project. An environmental art project led by artist-weavers Todd DeVries. Sharon and I met three years ago - when attending her Autumn shade retreat. Offers a great guide. With the descriptive of these "invasive" plants. As a permaculturist, I rather label them as "opportunistic" species, but that's a different post all together. Cedar), Squamish spinner and...

Fibre Sauvage: Flax to Linen to Threads in the Garden
http://fibresauvage.blogspot.com/2012/11/flax-to-linen-to-treads-in-garden.html
Saori Inspired Weaving and Knitting with Natural Fibres. Thursday, November 22, 2012. Flax to Linen to Threads in the Garden. Linen has to be my favourite plant fibre for zillions of reasons and for years I have been in awe with this wonderful bast fibre. When ready, the plants need to be collected and hung to dry. Next the seeds are removed - a step called " rippling. And saved for next year's crop. After the stalks are rippled, they are bundled and prepared for " retting. The combing of the fibres thro...

Fibre Sauvage: October 2010
http://fibresauvage.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Saori Inspired Weaving and Knitting with Natural Fibres. Wednesday, October 20, 2010. A Saori Wind Chime. My Saori wind chime came together. Before traveling to the Oregon Coast. And only recently was it installed outside near by our kitchen window. In creating this visual display of colors, my desire was to weave several Saori pieces that would dance in the wind. What I did not expect is the glowing of these colors in the morning sun. Posted by Fibre Sauvage. Friday, October 8, 2010. I treadled a lot.

Saori Inspired Weaving and Knitting with Natural Fibres. Tuesday, December 7, 2010. Thrums . THRUMS . Thrums. Thrums are full of colours. Thrums offer lots of textures. Thrums are simple treasures. Silk thrums in the warp. Silk thrums in the weft. Let's see where those thrums take me and as Misao-sensei would say. Let's adventure beyond our imagination". Posted by Fibre Sauvage. Fibre Sauvage: Opportunity for contemplation
http://fibresauvage.blogspot.com/2012/09/opportunity-for-contemplation.html
Saori Inspired Weaving and Knitting with Natural Fibres. Thursday, September 20, 2012. The Little Green Dress Projekt. By local artist Nicole Dextras. Is a stunning creation. Nicole happened to be at the garden when I visited the exhibition - allowing for a fortuitous conversation on the project, the process and the materials. If you are in Vancouver, don't miss the Earth Art 2012 exhibition at the VanDusen Botanical Garden - only 10 days left. And if living far away, take a detour to Nicole's dresses.
