The Adventure Begins: Soccer!
http://daniburkinafaso.blogspot.com/2012/04/soccer.html
Peace Corps Burkina Faso. Tuesday, April 17, 2012. So a way long time ago (I think last summer maybe? I talked to my friend, Beth, who I knew had a girls'. Soccer club and asked if she wanted the uniforms, and of course she did! The village we were playing in was about 15km from Beth's village, meaning that the girls had to bike for over an hour before playing. Then bike home again, this time at noon after running around for over an hour! Waiting for the game to start! Check out more pictures here! Well ...

The Adventure Begins: April 2011
http://daniburkinafaso.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Peace Corps Burkina Faso. Monday, April 18, 2011. A few anecdotes from site. My underwear: Well, most of you probably have no interest in my underwear, but it’s a pretty funny story. The other day I was wearing one of my complets (matching shirt and skirt made here). Complets are normally worn pretty tight, especially the skirts. That morning I had class with my 3e class, and was teaching them all about the primary colors of light when there is a knock on the door. It’s in the back of the skirt). I saw a...

Peace Corps Burkina Faso. Sunday, January 29, 2012. So here is my belated holiday post! Next year I’ll be in America for Christmas and New Year’s! Xmas eve morning we made the trip from my village to Bobo and you could definitely tell it was a holiday! The next morning Val and I left at about 6:30 for Mali! Salt mined near Timbuktu. The next day we sat around the pool reading with a walk along the river. The rest of our group got in that evening – two other volunteers (from MN! And their four friends vis...

The Adventure Begins: Education Win, again!
http://daniburkinafaso.blogspot.com/2012/07/education-win-again.html
Peace Corps Burkina Faso. Tuesday, July 31, 2012. Education Win, again! So I realize it's been a really long time since I updated this thing, so I'm going to try to do a couple updates today and tomorrow while I've got internet. (Full disclosure: not having internet access isn't a viable excuse for my lack updates lately, I've had internet more often these last few months than the entirety of my first year of service.). Anyway, as you'll remember from last year, my school had super awesome BEPC results.

The Adventure Begins: My classroom!
http://daniburkinafaso.blogspot.com/2012/04/my-classroom.html
Peace Corps Burkina Faso. Saturday, April 7, 2012. Ever wonder what 85 students in a classroom looks like? Well, here it is. This is my 5e class (about 7th grade level), there are 85 students aged 14-18 crammed onto 28 benches (3 per bench! Copying notes from the board. While this isn't an ideal situation for any school, we make it work. The other P/C teacher and I work together to plan experiments and buy (or make! Side note: Notice how the classroom has a drop down ceiling? View my complete profile.

The Adventure Begins: June 2011
http://daniburkinafaso.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Peace Corps Burkina Faso. Monday, June 6, 2011. A day in Burkina. For example, when I first got here I was amazed at the number of lizards here! Another weird thing that you quickly get used to here is eating food from plastic bags. Instead of “to go” boxes, street vendors and even restaurants will give you your food to go in a black plastic bag. And at first you think it is absolutely bizarre and little gross to be eating your rice or spaghetti out of bag, but you get over it. But in addition to loading...
