Sarah's EPIC Hawaii summer

Tuesday, August 17, 2010. Left my heart in Hawai'i. I am now back on mainland turf, but my heart still thinks it's in Hawai'i. Over the last 2 months, I have fallen in love with the Aloha state. I know it's been a while since I've updated, so let me try to recap. Our last outreach event we planned was at Ward Center. The guys wore white t-shirts with questions like:. Does absolute truth exist? What makes a hero? What happens when you die? When you hear the word "Christian," what do you think of? There's ...

Sarah's EPIC Hawaii summer: My devotional

http://sarahgoestohawaii.blogspot.com/2010/07/my-devotional.html

Wednesday, July 7, 2010. Thanks for praying for my devo's! I thought you all might want to know how it turned out, so here it is:. Hey guys, so since we're going out to share today, I wanted to talk about what it means to successfully evangelize. Crusade defines it as "taking the initiative to share Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit and leave the results to God.". He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears. And he will tell you what is yet to come. He will bring glory. View ...

Sarah's EPIC Hawaii summer: Malama `aina

http://sarahgoestohawaii.blogspot.com/2010/07/malama-aina.html

Thursday, July 15, 2010. Malama `aina. Respect the land. Nurture it, care for it, love it. One of our local friends, Matt Darby came with us. He knew the Hawaiian anthem and a lot of the Hawaiian songs. He said that he identified himself as Hawaiian, not American. Because he's white, he's often mistaken for a tourist, and he hates it because, as he says, haoles do not respect the aina. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Sarah's EPIC Hawaii summer. Thursday, July 29, 2010. Here's what the committee I lead has been working on:. We've met more students who are interested in coming to a Bible study, so myself and a teammate, Toumee are going to be leading a campus Bible study at HPU! Our first Bible study meets tomorrow, and I'm really excited to see the turnout. Please keep us in your prayers! We only have 4 more days on campus, so we really want to push and see God move in mighty ways! Monday, July 19, 2010. So much to report. My parents say that I'...

Sarah's Peace Corps Story | Adventures in Cameroon

Sarah's Peace Corps Story. This might be over a month late, but the sentiment remains the same. Clearly, avoiding emotional processing is my MO. After 26 months in Cameroon, I officially closed my service and completed my time as a Peace Corps Volunteer. Fittingly, my final moments in country were a rollercoaster, like of my time there. Despite the frustration and struggles that came along with it, there were resounding moments of joy and triumph. Some highlights to share:. These PCV friends have been th...

Sarah Goes To Church

Sarah Goes To Church. Friday, January 10, 2014. How do you measure, measure a year? In cups of coffee? In Broadway musical numbers? Memories from an amazing year of church. God made good on the promise of safety and me and my little blue Civic returned to St. Louis unharmed. So, on Sunday January 6th 2013 I attended my first church service at First Unitarian Church in St. Louis, MO. At the end of a strange and confusing and challenging and glorious and eye-opening year I have attended 46 church services.
