Saturday, August 18, 2012. Becket, for Charlie. I had my husband scan this painting, thinking it was done, but I think I want to add more green to the eyes, more whiskers in the ears, and more shadow around the nose. That's what scanning sometimes does, highlight the imperfections. Thankfully, the next door neighbor loved him just as much; in his house, he only peed in the bathtub. Saturday, February 16, 2013. Black cat with yellow background. Somehow, over the years, I've become more realistic in my artwork (emphasis on more). Perhaps it is the nature of commissions. After all, the buyer wants something that LOOKS like his beloved animal. I think I needed to have some fun when I started painting this cat. I added bright circus colors and played with the tail. Sunday, February 24, 2013. You may remember the portrait I did around Christmas of Crusher. The mini poodle. Well, he was ordered by a lovely man whose wife is the house color authority :). (I can relate as I am as well.) Because all my commissions come with a "I'll work on it until you like it" philosophy, I received the portrait back to change the color of the background and to lengthen the ears. Links to this post. Tuesday, November 27, 2012. This is another of my winter cards. While others may think birds in snow covered trees represent winter to them, to me, it's sweaters on dogs. But have you ever seen a scarf on a dog? My dog, Penny. Just got a new sweater that she loves . While I got it at Ideal Pet Stop, it's a Chilly Dog Sweater. And they sell scarves too! But I have never seen a scarf on a dog - or a cat. This design is available as a card both individually and as a set at my Etsy store. Links to this post.

Kirstin, the manager of Ideal Pet Stop in Seward park (where Penny likes to hang out during the day), has a new camera, a dslr Rebel Canon something something. Whatever, it takes great pictures. She brought her new camera to work and we took some pictures of Penny, and even some with Penny and her mom. The collar is from Fido and Scratch in the Mount Baker area. A blog for a sweet red dog. Wednesday, December 16, 2009. I went with a friend to Kennewick to get a dog who was found in an abandoned pig pen. My friend is fostering her. While I was gone, Penny stayed with Theresa, who she adores. Finally, Olive played with her. She was a little intimidated by Penny's size and the compromise was for Olive to be on the couch, with Penny nosing her with her hind feet on the ground - mostly. Here are some shots. While she was in low energy mode, and while she's getting "treats" (pills covered in cream cheese), she's learning a couple new tricks. Bow" is downward dog on command.
