Throughout the past week we have been working on our pencil control to produce stunning drawings of Disney characters. We have learnt from professional artists at Disney, following drawing lessons online to see how the pros do it, looking at these pictures I think we may have several potential animators in Year 5! With today being Remembrance Day and our topic being World War I we decided to do a special sculpture to mark the occasion. We were all touched by last year's incredible sculpture Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red that was housed at the Tower of London. Recently we've been finding out all about the Space Race. We've summarized the key events in the slideshows below. Thursday, 21 January 2016. These are just a few but everyone has produced stunning drawings. We focused in particular on shape, position and size and found that if we had just these 3 correct the pictures looked spot on.

This afternoon Year 5 have been trying to build the basics behind some early machines, creating pulleys and gears. This morning we dedicated entirely to maths, in particular how to multiply two 2 digit numbers together. Everyone in the class made some great steps forwards with their maths whilst working on it but to help them really get to grips with it here are some videos reminding them of the method we use.

We celebrated National Poetry Day today with a lesson spent outside in the glorious Autumn sunshine. We are year 5 at Sedgeberrow First School. On this Blog we will share with you what we have been up to and what we are doing in class. Thursday, 24 September 2015. It's the annual MacMillan coffee morning in school tomorrow and to help raise money we've been busy baking cakes. Not just any cakes, we've made Dutch Botercoek. It's also European Day of Languages on Friday and we're looking at The Netherlands this year, hence the Dutch baking! They look pretty yummy so please do pop in and sample some.
