Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor Review. In general, Karou has managed to keep her two lives in balance. On the one hand, she’s a seventeen-year-old art student in Prague; on the other, errand-girl to a monstrous creature who is the closest thing she has to family. Now the doors to Elsewhere are closing, and Karou must choose between the safety of her human life and the dangers of a war-ravaged world that may hold the answers she has always sought. As you can tell, I loved it. However things st...

The First Big Step |

The First Big Step. Have a look at this:. Do you know what this is? This is me trying to make sense of my novel in post-it form. I’ve read through it all (most, I’ve still got a couple of pages to go), and now the post-its are summarising what is in each section. The plan is to make that into a plan of what I’m missing – there’s a few chunks I haven’t written, and you know, an ending. I had some goals last week, lets see how I did with them:. 2x runs, 2x 20 minute walks, 2x 10 minute walks. And a half...

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Review. WARNING: THE HUNGER GAMES and CATCHING FIRE spoilers. Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has survived the Hunger Games twice. But now that she’s made it out of the bloody arena alive, she’s still not safe. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge. Who do they think should pay for the unrest? You know you’ve read a good book, when 24 hours after finishing it, you’re still thinking about it (a lot), and debating with yourself if it was the right ending. Now I hav...

Long hard road out of hell. | Surprising ME
https://surprisingme.wordpress.com/2010/12/02/long-hard-road-out-of-hell
Bringing the inert to life. Long hard road out of hell. Welp It’s been a very long month. What with driving lessons, feline shenanigans, child wrangling, Christmas planning (and spending), epic twitter spam and an impromptu visit to my mother’s place for four days, I really didn’t expect that I’d make it. I only went and fucking did it, didn’t I? Managed a paulty 14,000 words before jacking it all in and spending the rest of November watching TV and eating cake). I can still write.
