About MOP

MOP is a 501c-3 non-profit dedicated to restoring water-cleansing oysters to the estuaries of Massachusetts. Each oyster can filter 40 gallons of water per day. An oyster reef can shelter up to 100 other species so they dramatically add to biodiversity. Oysters also sequester nitrogen in wastewater and each person creates 12 pounds per year. Oyster shells contain calcium carbonate a known buffer that can help offset ocean acidification. MOP has shown that oysters can survive and grow in Boston Harbor.

Come see us during this great event. Mayflower Brewery Event on Sat Nov 14th featuring our own specialized oyster knife (see it under our on-line store). 5pm-9pm. Limited to 3000 people. $45 per person. Please note: you must show up within one hour of the start time to partake or forfeit your line in time.

Is working on an exciting effort to return Massachusetts marine estuaries to their historic natures through the restoration of once native oysters. Through shell recycling and oyster placements, we can improve water quality while attracting other sea life including crabs, eel grass, shrimp, bluefish and striped bass.
